Norwich Stuffs Bill.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for regulating the Making of Stuffs in Norfolke and Norwich."
The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Alterations shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. with Bills.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Moundeford Brampston and Sir Toby Woolrich:
To return the Bill for regulating the Norwich Stuffs; to which the Lords do agree, with the Alterations, and desire their Concurrence therein.
2. To put them in Mind of expediting Two Bills formerly sent down to them:
1. The Bill concerning Lyndsey Levell.
2. The Bill concerning Halfeild Levell.
Bill for Money for Officers who served the King during the late Troubles.
ORDERED, That the Bill for Distribution of Threescore Thousand Pounds amongst the Loyal Commissioned Officers of the King shall be read the Second Time Tomorrow Morning, the First Business.
Message to H. C. for a Conference about the Bill for repairing Streets &c. in Westm. &c.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Allen Broderick and others:
To desire (fn. 1) Conference, upon the Bill concerning the Amending of the Highways and Streets about Westm. and the adjacent Parts.
The Answer returned was:
Answer.
That their Lordships will give a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Subject-matter desired.
The Lord Chancellor, the Earl of Bridgwater, and the Lord Ashley, were appointed to report the Matter of this Conference with the House of Commons.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.
Report of this Conference.
The Lord Chancellor reported, "That the Effect of this Conference was, The House of Commons do agree to all the Amendments in the Bill concerning the Amending of the Streets and Highways in Westm. and the Places adjacent; excepting to that Proviso concerning Exeter House; to which the Commons do not agree, because they conceive that Proviso to be unnecessary and needless, there being Security enough already for that House by the other Amendments in the said Bill."
ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Business is deferred until To-morrow Morning.
Glass Bottles Bill.
ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill for Glass Bottles do meet on Saturday next, in the Afternoon; and the Lord Tenham and the Lord Ward are added to that Committee.
Ly. Elizabeth Wriothsley's Cause.
ORDERED, That the Committee for Privileges do meet To-morrow Morning, to consider of the Business formerly referred to them, upon Occasion of the Case of the Lady Elizabeth Wriothsley; and report their Opinion therein to this House with what convenient Speed they can.
Marquis of Winton, L. St. John & al. Cause referred to His Majesty's Referees.
Upon hearing Counsel at this Bar, on Behalf of the Marquis of Winton, the Lord St. John his Son, and the Lord Henry Pawlett, the Lord Edward Pawlett, the Earl of Newport, Charles Pawlett Esquire, Daniell Wicherley, and others, concerning the Matter of a Bill depending in this House, brought in by the said Lord Marquis and his Son, according to an Order of this House, of the Eighteenth of April Instant:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the whole Cause concerning all the Parties is hereby referred to the Referees that His Majesty was pleased formerly to refer the Matter in Difference between the Lord Marquis and his said Son; who, having heard all the said Parties, are to endeavour to compose all Matters of Difference between them, and to make a final Settlement amongst them, if they can.
