PRAYERS.

Message from H. C. with Bills; and for a Conference on the Bill for confirming Private Acts.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Herbert and others; who brought up Three Bills, which have passed the House of Commons, wherein their Lordships Concurrence is desired:

1. "An Act to confirm an Act, for Restitution of Thomas Earl of Arrundell, Surrey, and Norfolke, to the Dignity and Title of Duke of Norfolke."

2. "An Act for confirming of the Marquis of Hertford to the Dukedom of Somersett."

3. "An Act, enabling Anthony Etrick to sell Lands, for Payment of his Debts."

Also to desire a Conference, at their Lordships Conveniency, touching Amendments in the Bill for confirming Private Acts, sent down to them.

The Answer returned was:

That this House will give a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Subject Matter desired.

Bill to prevent the melting of Silver Coin.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported from the Committee, the Bill against melting of Silver Coin, as fit to pass, with some Amendments and Alterations; which are offered to their Lordships Consideration.

The said Alterations were read Twice, and the Debate put off until some other Time.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.

Report of the Conference concerning the Bill for confirming Private Acts.

The Earl of Anglesey reported, "That the Matter of this Conference with the House of Commons was, concerning the Amendments sent down in the Bill for confirming some Private Acts. The Commons agree to all the Amendments; only to the Manner of sending down the Addition of the Titles of Three Acts, which are in Paper, they do not agree; because they conceive that all new Matter which is to be enacted in a Bill ought to be engrossed in Parchment, and not in Paper."

Hereupon this House ORDERED, That the said Amendments shall be engrossed in Parchment.

Lords Leave to be absent.

ORDERED, That the Earl of Shrewsbury hath Leave to be absent for some Time.

Bill to regulate Corporations.

ORDERED, That the Absence of the Earl of Petriburgh is excused.

ORDERED, That the Business concerning Corporations shall be taken up as soon as may be.
