Halk and James.

Ordered, That the Clerk of the Committee of Plundered Ministers shall attend, with his Book, at the Hearing of the Cause between Halke and James, to produce the Order entered there concerning this Business.

Absent Lords to pay.

Ordered, That the Order for Peers which come after Prayers is said, to pay Money, shall be revived, and put into Execution.

Toll's Ordinance to be Comptroller at Lynn.

The Earl of Manchester reported from the Committee, the Ordinance for making Tho. Toll Comptroller of the Customs at Lynn, as fit to pass: But in regard that Shadwell, whom it concerns, hath not been heard, it is Ordered, That Shadwell shall shew Cause, (fn. 1) before this Day Sevennight, why the said Ordinance should not pass; and in Default thereof, this House will proceed thereupon.

Ordinance to continue the Assessments for the Army.

Ordered, That the Committee concerning the Ordinance for continuing the Assessments of the Army shall meet this Afternoon, and report the same to this House To-morrow Morning.

Ordinance to dispose of Impropriations belonging to Bishops.

The House was adjourned into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Ordinance for disposing of the Impropriations of Bishops Lands, &c.

Captain Wyat's Petition.

Upon reading the Petition of Captain Deveurex Wyatt:

It is Ordered, To be sent to the House of Commons, with Recommendations.

Charncock's Ordinance to be Searcher at Poole.

An Ordinance for making Roger Charncock Head Searcher in the Port of Poole, was read Twice, and Agreed to.

Preachers at the Fast thanked.

Ordered, That Mr. Cawdrey and Mr. Greene shall have Thanks given them, for their Pains in preaching before the Lords the last Fast; and desired to print their (fn. 2) Sermons.

Preachers at the next.

Ordered, That Doctor Love and Doctor Temple are appointed to preach before the Lords, the next Fast-day, at Martin's Church in the Feilds.

Message to the H. C. with the Ordinance about the Excise Accompts.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Aylett and Mr. Page:

To deliver to them the Ordinance concerning the Commissioners of Excise, with the Alteration; and desire their Concurrence therein.

Ld. Hereford, Leave to be absent.

Ordered, That the Lord Viscount Hereford shall have Leave to be absent from his Attendance on this House, and to come so often as his Health will give him Leave.

Ordinance to dispose of Impropriations, late belonging to Bishops, &c.

"Whereas, by virtue of an Ordinance of Parliament of the 9th of October, 1646, intituled, "An Ordinance of the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, for the abolishing of Archbishops and Bishops, within the Kingdom of England and Dominion of Wales, and for settling of their Lands and Possessions upon Trustees, for the Use of the Commonwealth," Sir John Wollaston Knight, John Fowke Alderman, and divers other Trustees named in the said Ordinance, are seised, amongst other Things, of all Parsonages Appropriate, Tithes, Oblations, Pensions, Portions of Tithes, Parsonages, and Vicarages, lately belonging to the said Archbishops and Bishops, subject to such Trust and Considence as both Houses of Parliament shall appoint and declare; and are to dispose of the same, and the Rents and Profits thereof, as both Houses shall appoint, as in the said Ordinance is expressed and declared: Be it Ordained, and it is hereby Ordained, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the said Trustees, or any Five or more of them, shall and are hereby authorized and required to give Warrants to the Treasurers in the said Ordinance named, for the Issuing-out and Payment of the Rents and Revenues of the said Parsonages Appropriate, Tithes, Oblations, Obventions, Pensions, Portions of Tithes, Parsonages, and Vicarages, as have been, or shall be, received by the said Treasurers, and have not been otherwise disposed of, for the Maintenance of Ministers, to such Person or Persons respectively, to whom the said Rents and Revenues, or any Part or Parcel thereof, have been or shall be ordered or assigned by the Committee for Plundered Ministers, for Augmentation of Maintenance for officiating in any Church or Chapel within the Kingdom of England and Dominion of Wales, according to the Effect and Purport of the Orders of the said Committee respectively: And the said Trustees, or any Five or more of them, shall give, and are hereby further authorized and required to give, Warrant to the said Treasurers, for Payment of Arrears due for the said Augmentations, and incurred since the 9th of October, 1646, according to the said Orders; and such Warrants of the said Trustees, together with the Receipt of the said Person or Persons who shall receive the said Augmentations as aforesaid, shall be a sufficient Discharge for the said Treasurers upon their Accompt."
