Ordered, That the Cause between Silver and Raynes shall be heard on Thursday next.

Serjeant Glanvile, a Pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Serjeant Glanvile shall have a Pass, to go into the Country, and return again to London, when he please, without any Trouble or Molestation.

Pooley to carry the Answer to the Prince.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. John Pooley shall have a Pass, to carry the Letter to the Prince; and that a Letter be written to the Lord Admiral, to let him pass.

Sir E. Povey's Order:

The Order concerning Sir Edward Povey, was read, and Agreed to. (Here enter it.)

To be employed in Ireland.

Ordered, That it be recommended to the Committee of Lords and Commons at Derby House, that Sir Edward Povey may have some Employment in Ireland, in the Service against the Rebels.

Declaration concerning the Netherland Contribution:

The Declaration concerning the Netherland Contribution, was read, and Agreed to. (Here enter it.)

Order for 1000 l. for the Commissioners employed for it.

The Order for One Thousand Pounds for Commissioners employed to negotiate a Contribution in The Low Countries, for the Relief of the Protestants in Ireland, was read, and Agreed to. (Here enter it.)

Nell, a Pass.

Ordered, That Symon Nell shall have a Pass, to go into Holland, and return again.

Mayne and Barnards.

Ordered, That Doctor Jasper Mayne shall have Three Weeks longer Time to put in his Answer to the Petition of Joel Barnards.

Willoughby, a Pass.

Ordered, That Mr. George Willoughby shall have a Pass, to go into France, and return again.

Catechisms.

Upon reading the Larger and Shorter Catechism:

It is Ordered, That these Lords Committees following shall take them into Consideration:

Pendred to attend Justice Manley.

Ordered, That Mr. Justice Manley shall send a Warrant for Wm. Pendred, to appear before him; and if he find Cause, then to bind him to the good Behaviour, by good and sufficient Sureties.

Governor of Tattershal Castle, refuses to deliver it to the E. of Lincoln.

This Day Nic. Poore, upon Oath, deposed, "That he did see the Order of this House, of the 3d of [ (fn. 1) last Month], to the Governor of the Castle of Tattershall, (fn. 2) to the Earl of Lyncolne, or to whom he should assign, delivered to the said Governor;" who said, "That he had seen the Order before; and that he had Commission from Colonel Rossiter to keep the said Castle until he had given him further Order."

The like did Anthony Fouckham depose upon Oath.

Sir J. Stowell and Bouett.

Upon reading the Petition of Richard Bouett; shewing, "That the Cause between Sir John Stowell and he was referred to Mr. Justice Pheasant and Mr. Justice Godbold; but, in regard that Mr. Justice Godbold is dead, he desires some other Judge may be appointed in his Place:"

Hereupon it is Ordered, That Mr. Baron Atkin is hereby appointed to join with Mr. Justice Pheasant.

Gov. of Tattershal Castle sent for.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Governor of Tattershall Castle, in the County of Lyncolne, shall be sent for, as a Delinquent, for disobeying the Order of this House, of the 3d of July last.

Message from the H. C. for Committees to meet about the Treaty.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bunckly:

To desire their Lordships would appoint the Time and Place for the Committee of Peace (fn. 3) to meet, to expedite the Treaty.

The Answer returned was:

That this (fn. 4) House appoints this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber, for the Committee to meet, as is desired.

Heads for the Conference about the E. of Holland.

Ordered, That the Committee do meet, and bring in the Matter of the Conference To-morrow Morning, concerning the Earl of Holland.

Message to the H. C. to remind them of the King's Chaplains going to Him.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Bennett and Mr. Page:

To put them in Mind of the Order for Doctor Sheldon and Doctor Hamond to be sent to the King, as His Chaplains.

E. of Nott. Thanks, for his Service in Scotland.

The Speaker, by Directions of the House, gave the Earl of Nottingham Thanks, for his faithful Service and Pains he expressed in his late Employment in Scotland, as being One of the Commissioners of the Parliament of England.

Order for 600 l. for Sir Edw. Povey.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Sum of Six Hundred Pounds be forthwith paid to Sir Edward Povey Knight, and be charged upon Habberdash'rs Hall, out of such Delinquents Estates as have not yet compounded for their Fifth and Twentieth Part, and shall be named to that Committee by Sir Edward Povey; and the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Sir Edward Povey, or his Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Committee at Habberdash'rs Hall, or to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same: And it is further Ordered, That the Sum of Five Pounds per Week, for Two Months, be charged at Habberdash'rs Hall, and paid unto the said Sir Edward Povey, or his Assigns, for his present Subsistence, in the mean Time."

Declaration concerning the Netherland Contribution:

"The Lords and Commons assembled in the Parliament of England, taking into Consideration the most miserable sad Condition of all the Brittish and Protestants within the Kingdom of Ireland, through the late horrid Rebellion, and the most barbarous Cruelties there acted upon them by the bloody Irish Rebels; and finding that, in regard of the great Distractions within this Kingdom, they were not then able to afford them such present Relief and Supplies as their Necessities required; did, by an Ordinance of both Houses, appoint Mr. Adam Laurence, Mr. Diericke Hoosts, Mr. Maurice Thompson, and Mr. Nicholas Corsellis, of London, to be Commissioners, and ordered them presently to repair to the High and Mighty Lords The States Generall of The United Provinces, as likewise to the Burgomasters of the several Cities, and all other well-affected People to the Protestant Cause there, to negotiate for the Relief of the Brittish and Protestants in Ireland, either by Subscription for Land, Loans, voluntary Contributions, or other Ways: Now whereas the said Commissioners have presented unto both Houses of Parliament a full Account of their whole Proceedings in that Business, whereby it doth appear that the full Sum of One and Thirty Thousand Two Hundred and Eighteen Pounds, Twelve Shillings, and Five Pence, was brought in by the voluntary Contribution of the well affected People in The United Provinces, for the Supply of the Brittish and Protestants within the Realm of Ireland, and disposed of accordingly in Victual; the said Lords and Commons, taking Notice of the extraordinary great Affection of the People of The United Provinces declared herein towards them, have thought fit to publish this Manifest, as an Acknowledgement of their pious and charitable Sense of the miserable Condition of their distressed Brethren in Ireland, in their Benevolence for the Relief of those Protestants, who had so highly suffered through the most horrid Cruelties of those bloody Rebels. And they being given further to understand of the great Care and Diligence, as well of the said Commissioners, as also of Mr. Thomas Cane, Mr. Charles Looten, Mr. William Watson, and Mr. Jonas Abeels, the Treasurers in Amsterdam, and Mr. Jeronimo William Asshman, Mr. Peter Boudaen Courten, and Mr. John De Durper Cozen, Treasurers in Middleburgh, who did with much Faithfulness go through this Work, discharging the Trust reposed in them without making any Defalcation for their Charges or Salary out of those Contributions, do likewise give the said Commissioners and Treasurers their most hearty Thanks, and to all others who have assisted in this good Work, so seasonably performed, for the Relief of the Brittish and Protestants in Ireland."

Order for 1000 l. for the Commissioners employed to negotiate it.

"The Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament do allow of the Sum of One Thousand Pounds, to be paid to the Commissioners employed by the Parliament to negotiate a Contribution in The Low Countryes for Relief of the Protestants in Ireland, for their Disbursements and Expences in their Employment: and that the said Sum of a Thousand Pounds be paid out of the Remainder of One Hundred Twenty Thousand Pounds formerly assessed for Ireland, after former Engagements assigned upon the said Monies be first satisfied; (videlicet,) to Mr. Dierick Host, Four Hundred Pounds; to Mr. Corsellis, Three Hundred Pounds, to Mr. Adam Lawrence, Two Hundred Pounds; and to Mr. Maurice Thompson, a Hundred Pounds."
