Combe alias Cumbe. A court, 240a. arable, 9a. 1r. meadow, and 52s. 8d. rents &c. held of Robert de Kaynnes for ½ knight's fee by service of a pair of gilt spurs; and he held nothing of the king in the county.

Cokewalde. A toft where formerly (there was) a manor, 22 bovates land whereof 12 are held of the king in chief by serjeanty of finding a man with an axe (hachia) when the king shall go into Wales, 7½a. meadow, 5s. 11d. rent of assize, 15s. from a villein holding 3 bovates, and 10s. from 2 bovates held in villenage; the whole worth 105s. 11d., whereof a third part is in dower; and the whole tenement gives 6s. yearly rent to John Dalenzun and Margery Malet.

Nortkellesheye. A capital messuage, 120a. arable in demesne in one part of the field and 140 in another, 151 perches meadow in a place called Lamcotes, and meadows called Netker, Blachou, and Dodeker, two water mills, 75s. rent of assize, 82s. 10d. rent of natives and cottars, 2½lb. pepper, 1lb. cummin and a pair of gloves, and a fishery worth 2s. yearly, rendering 20s. to the mother church of Lincoln.
Sudkellesey. 2 bovates land held of the king's soke of Castre, rendering to the king 16d. rent.

Warwick. Inq. Sunday the morrow of the Assumption, 4 Edw. I.
Hardredeshull. The manor (extent given), including woods called Suthheye, le Hokehaie and le Neuhaye, and the pasture of Wolstancsleye, held of Ralph Basset of Sapecote by service of 1 knight's fee.
The whole worth 19l. 18s. 11½d., of which 10l. is assigned to Joan late the wife of the said John, to be held in tenancy of the king's special grace and by his writ.

Writ of plenius certiorari, on the complaint of Stephen de Neyvill that the subescheator had taken into the king's hand the wardship of the heir and lands of the said Peter which pertained to him, 23 Nov. 4 Edw. I.
Leicester. Inq. Sunday after St. Hilary, 4 Edw. I.
Wymundewold. A messuage held by the feoffment of William son of Warin, rendering 16d. yearly to Stephen de Neyvill, the chief lord of that fee, and doing to him foreign service and suit of court; 1 virgate land and 2 messuages afterwards acquired of Peter de Neyvill doing a rose yearly and foreign service; and 1 bovate land afterwards acquired of the said Stephen doing foreign service only.
Whereof Emma late his wife is dowered of a third part by the king's command; and the wardship with the marriage was sold to the said Emma and one Master William de Shambrock for 6½ marks, by order of the late escheator.

191. Isabel late the wife of Reginald Gacelin.

Surrey. Inq. Sunday after the Purification (year unspecified).
Bedinton. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of a wooden crossbow (balista) yearly; whereof Lady Elisa de Lucas has a third part in dower through Reymund de Lukes.
She died fourteen years ago at Whitsuntide next: Sir John de Tudemersse after her death held her tenement for three years after the battle of Lewes, and Geoffrey Gacelin had it for eleven years following until Wednesday after St. Andrew, when Ralph de Sandewyco took the issues to the king's use until the octave of the Purification, 4 Edw. I. and still has seisin together with the escheator of Surrey. The said Geoffrey brought up a boy and used to say that he was the son of the said Isabel, but the jury know not whether she bore any child (puerum) in a county of England (in Comit' Anglie); if she had no child (filium), the jury give Arnold de Clarak, aged 30 and more, as her next heir.

Cisilberg. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held through Isabel his wife of the inheritance of the said Isabel, who now holds the same of the king in chief by barony.
The said Isabel had not any land of the gift of Ralph de la Haye her first husband, nor was enfeoffed of any lands with the said Thomas in the county.
Baldwin, son of the said Thomas and Isabel, aged 16, is their heir.

Eldeham. A moiety of a knight's fee, held of Sir Nicholas Poynz by doing scutage pertaining thereto when it shall happen.

Flechynge. 80a. land in demesne, 16s. rent of assize, and 6a. meadow, and 10a. wood in Hassedone Forest, of which the soil is the queen's pertaining to the honour of L'Aigle (Aquila), held of John de la Haye by service of 1d. yearly, and of Richard le Wevere (?) by service of 5 grains of pepper.
Gyvintone, Brambeltye and Laverketye. The manors with marshes &c. held of the inheritance of Isabel his wife.
Middeltone and Nywenham. 5 marks rent held in dower of the said Isabel of the gift of Ralph de la Haye her first husband.
