PREBENDARIES OF YATTON

M. Anthony de Lavenza 1306.

M. Richard de Abyndon ?-1322.

Lavenza occ. 18 Jan. 1306, claimed preb. in Wells by virtue of prov. (CPL. 11 18). Probably preb. of Yatton since Abyndon then said to be unlawfully detaining preb. (ibid. pp. 18-19) and Abyndon occ. as preb. of Yatton 6 Dec. 1308 (Reg. of W. Reynolds, ed. R. A. Wilson (Worcs. Hist. Soc., 1927) p. 161). D. as preb. before 20 March 1322 (Reg. Drokensford f. 180).

Andrew de Drokensford 1322-1326.

Richard de Thistleden ?-1325.

M. Robert de Baldock senior D.C.L. 1324-1327.

Richard de Drokensford 1326-1328.

M. Thomas de Trillek M.A. 1327-1364.

M. Alan de Cosneburg D.C.L. 1327-1330.

M. Robert de Stratford M.A. 1328-1334.

Andrew de Drokensford coll. 20 March 1322 (Reg. Drokensford f. 180). Royal gr. to Baldock 19 Sept. 1324 (CPR. 1324-1327 p. 24). Royal prohibn. 3 May 1325 against all ecclesiastical persons taking proceedings against judgt. where k. recovered right to pres. to preb. (ibid. pp. 116-17). Res. of Thistleden from preb. ordered 9 May, mand. to install Baldock 15 May (Reg. Drokensford p. 245). Baldock does not appear to have obtained possession since Andrew de Drokensford res. preb. before 19 Oct. 1326 when Richard de Drokensford coll. by bp. (ibid. p. 252). Baldock cited by bp. 14 Nov. because still claiming preb. (ibid.). Baldock d. 28 May 1327 (Murimuth, Chronica, ed. T. Hog (Eng. Hist. Soc., 1846) p. 51). Trillek prov. 14 July (CPL. 11 263), but prov. to Cosneburg 22 Nov., 23 Jan. 1328 and 2 May (ibid. pp. 267, 272). Prov. to Cosneburg probably made because Trillek then said to be under age and not in priest's orders (CPP. 1 114-15). Richard de Drokensford appears to have held preb. in spite of prov. to Trillek and Cosneburg since res. before 25 July when Stratford coll. by bp. (Reg. Drokensford p. 290). Litigation at curia between Trillek, Stratford and Cosneburg about preb., but Cosneburg renounced claims c. 25 Feb. 1330 when prov. to canonry in York (CPL. 11 306). Stratford probably res. claims to preb. 1334 when prov. to deanery of Wells (ibid. p. 402). Trillek remained in possession, estate ratif. 28 Aug. 1347 (CPR. 1345-1348 p. 552). Bp. of Rochester 1364.

John de Sleford 1370-1401.

Royal gr. 8 Sept. 1370 (CPR. 1367-1370 p. 462). Estate ratif. 17 Nov. 1372 (CPR. 1370-1374 p. 212). D. before 22 Nov. 1401 (Reg. Giffard and Bowet p. 23).

Thomas Langley 1401-1406.

Coll. 22 Nov. 1401 (Reg. Giffard and Bowet p. 23). Bp. of Durham 1406.
