Osbaldwick (N.R) held by cans., and Gate Helmsley (N.R.) by cath. in 1086 (Yorks. DB fos. 298, 303, 303v, 379, 381).

In 1294 preb. had manor-house and land in Osbaldwick, land and advowson of vicarage in Gate Helmsley, land and a hall in Newbald (Extents pp. 8-11).

Occ. as this preb. 1205 × 1214 (YMF I no. 42), and as can. 1206/7 (Cart. Rievaulx no. 363). Prob. to be identified with royal clerk who was preb. of London, first occ. c. 1192, excomm. 1215 and depr. prob. by 1217 (1 Fasti I 30).

R[ichard] le Brun

As R. le Brun, clerk, had abp.'s coll. to this preb. 3 March 1271 (Reg. Giffard p. 33). Presum. to be identified with Richard le Brun, archdcn. of Richmond, who occ. 5 July 1271 (list 13).

M. Thomas of Corbridge

First occ. as can. 11 Sept. 1277 (Reg. Romeyn II 84 n.). Received vote of M. Thomas de Hedon in el. to abpric. of York [22 June] 1279 (CPL I 459 = Reg. Nic. III no. 559). M. Thomas of Adderbury (fn. 191)

Clerk, abp.'s coll. to this preb. in succession to M. Thomas of Corbridge 25 June 1280 (Reg. Wickwane pp. 3-4; cf. p. 17). Transf. by abp.'s coll. to preb. Wetwang before 30 March 1282 (ibid. p. 9; list 47). Perhaps related to M. Robert de la Forde (below).
