Occ. as canon c. 1275 (Chart. Chichester no. 663) and 19 Oct. 1272 × 5 Apr. 1279 (ibid. nos. 450, 637). (fn. 2) Occ. as this preb. 1279 (ibid. no. 662). Just possibly to be identified with William of Lagness, cited for non-attendance at abp.'s visitation, 22 May 1283 (Reg. Pecham II 199), who does not otherwise occ.
Next identified preb. is M. Gilbert de Middleton, who occ. as this preb. 15 Nov. 1317, and died by 26 Dec. 1330 (2 Fasti VII 43).
