Manor of Netherbury (Dorset) part of pre-Conquest Sherborne episcopal estates (see AS Chs. Sherborne pp. xxxviii-xxxix, xlii, xliv, xlv; DB I 77b). One of several 'villas preter militum terras' given to cans. by bp. Osmund 1091 (carta). Conf. by pope 26 Nov. 1146 (PUE II no. 53 p. 209).
Preb. prob. in existence by c. 1150 (Psalter list). Preb. consisted of rectory and advowson of Netherbury. Perpetual vicar disp. for illegitimacy 1295 (CPL I 558). Preb. called 'Netherbury and Beaminster' in 1291 (Taxatio p. 181b).
Dcn.-preb.; decani side; term of residence c. 1270: Jan.-March.

Archdcn. of Wilts., but evidently immediately transf. to Salisbury, by Apr. or May 1193, last occ. 16 Aug. 1238 (lists 10, 9). Occ. as preb. of 'Beministr", this preb., Oct. 1226 × Feb. 1227 (app. 1).
M. Blasius of Anagni
Nephew and chapl. of pope Alexander IV, papal request to chapter to exch. preb. to which Blasius had been coll. for a preb. of his choice, 12 June 1257 (PRO, SC. 7/38/1). Occ. this preb., as 'Blasius Romanus', May-June 1284 (app. 2) and as can. 8 Apr. 1297 (CPR 1292-1301 p. 276). Francesco Gaetani coll. and instal. by Gandavo before 1307, but res. (Reg. Martival III no. 876). Blasius d. as this preb. 2 Apr. × 28 Sept. 1315 (ibid.).
