Fordington (Dorset) in royal manor of Dorchester 1086 (DB I 75b); Writhlington (Somt.) held by Brictuuoldus, king's thegn, 1066 and 1086 (ibid. 99a). Church of Fordington, called St George, Dorchester, gr. to cans. by bp. Osmund 1091 (carta).

Preb. in existence by 1151 (RSO I 268-9), and in Psalter list of c. 1150. Preb. consisted of churches of Fordington and Writhlington. Ordination of Fordington vicarage 1222 (RSO I 322-3).
