PREBENDARIES OF CHAMBERLAINWOOD (fn. 1)
See lists in Cats. I fo. 94r, II fo. 111/118r.
Robert [?de Limesey]
First preb. in cats., 'Robertus episcopus Cestr.'. Presum., if cat. order correct, to be identified with Robert de Limesey, bp. of Chester, nom. 25 Dec. 1085, cons. 1086, d. 1 Sept. 1117, who attests Henry I's conf. to Maurice, bp. of London, 14 Sept. [1100] (Gibbs no. 22). [Only other possibility is Robert Pecche, king's chapl. 1101-20 (Regesta II nos. 544-1226), bp. of Chester 1121-27; but this identification would be difficult chronologically.]
Ralph Gundram
Occ. in cats. between Robert [?de Limesey] and Raherius, 'Radulphus Gundram'. Occ. as can. three times: 1104/5 (WD 4 fo. 19/23r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 61b), 1114/15 (Hale pp. 127-8), and 1115/16 (A/24/1478 and WD 4 fos. 19/23v-20/24r, pd. in Rep. pp. 61b-62a).
Raherius
Occ. in cats. between Ralph Gundram and Geoffrey Constable, 'Raherius [Ragerius, Cat. II]'. Possibly to be identified with Rahere, prior of St. Bartholomew, Smithfield (Aug.), 1123-44 (for whom see J. C. Dickinson, Origins of the Austin Canons (1950) pp. 121-2, 135 and references cited). This possibility is strengthened by occ. of a Geoffrey Constable in connection with St. Bartholomew's, 1137 (see below).
Geoffrey Constable
Occ. in cats. between Raherius and Nicholas son of Clement, 'Gaufridus constabularius'. First certain occ. as can. [c. 1128 × 1138] (WD 4 fo. 52/56v, pd. in Rep. p. 67a), (fn. 2) but may be the 'Gaufridus' who occ. as can. 1132/3 (WD 4 fo. 53/57r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 67b) and [1115 × c. 1138] (WD 4 fo. 29/33r-v, pd. in Rep. p. 64a). (fn. 3) Last certain occ. 1148/9 (WD 4 fos. 27/31v-28/32r, pd. in Rep. p. 63a-b), but may occ. later, [1141 × Sept. 1150] (Two Registers of Beauchamp, ed. H. C. Maxwell-Lyte (Somerset Record Soc. xxxv) p. 101). (fn. 4) Perhaps to be identified with 'Gaufridus Cunestable', who occ., not called can., in charter of Rahere, prior of St. Bartholomew, Smithfield, 1137 (Moore. St. Barts. 1 26-7; cf. Raherius, above), and with Geoffrey Constable who had property in London and prob. d. before 1154 (Regesta III no. 317).
M. Nicholas son of Clement (fn. 5)

Nicholas son of Clement, who is the only Nicholas in St. Paul's chapter at this period, for whom otherwise no preb. can be assigned. Occ. as can. [Apr. 1138 × 1150] (WD 4 fos. 20/24r-21/25v, pd. in Rep. p. 62a), (fn. 6) together with Geoffrey Constable, so presum. held another unident. preb. at this time. Also occ. 1150/1 (B.M., Harley MS. 6956 fo. 84v, from missing Liber F fo. 35). Last occ. 1183/4 (G.F.L. no. 403), and [c. 1185] (A/33/702), (fn. 7) and perhaps later, [c. 1180 × 1192] (A/2/581, name omitted from cal. in Rep. p. 3b) (fn. 8) and [c. 1180 × Sept. 1186] (A/30/ 495). [March 1200 × May 1201] (A/24/1062, cal. in Rep. p. 26a-b; cf. XI, 'Domesday' fo. 478r-v). Last occ. 1215/16 (A/39/1369) and [c. 1214 × Sept. 1216] (Gibbs nos. 145, 254). Excomm., prob. late summer 1215, and depr., prob. by 16 Sept. [1217] (Norf.
