Prayers.

Berwick Election.

A PETITION of Thomas Grey Esquire, was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee of Elections, to take the same into Consideration, at their next Sitting; and to summon and hear the Parties concerned; and to examine the Matter of Fact; and report the same, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

Hartlepoole Pier.

A Petition of the Mayor, Chief Burgesses, and the rest of the Inhabitants of Hartlepoole, was read; and debated.

Resolved, &c. That Leave be given for bringing in a Bill for repairing and maintaining of Hartlepoole Pier: And that Sir Gilbert Gerrard have Leave to bring in the Bill To-morrow Morning, to be then read.

Sutton Marsh.

A Bill for settling Sutton Marsh on the Right Noble Charles Lord Duke of Richmond and Lenox was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time on Saturday next.

Probate of Wills.

A Bill for the better Probate of, and registering Wills, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to the same Committee to which the Bill for the Regulation of the Law was committed: And that it be referred to the Committee to provide, That Wills, whereby Lands are devised, may be proved, registered, and recorded in a Place certain, that such as are concerned may have Recourse to them, but not to alter the Jurisdiction of the Spiritual Court, in Relation to the Probate of Wills, or concerning Matters testamentary: And all the Members of this House, that are Graduates in the Civil Law, are added to the Committee: And all the Members that shall come are to have Voices: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Damage Cleere.

Mr. Street reports from the Committee to which the Bill for taking away Damage Cleere was committed, That the Committee had agreed some Amendments to be made, and Clauses and Provisoes to be added to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Which, being twice read, were, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Navy Debt.

Ordered, That the Debate of the Matter touching the Victuallers of the Navy be adjourned; and taken into Consideration on Friday Morning, Ten of the Clock.

Fees in Courts.

Ordered, That the Report of the Bill for the regulating Fees, be heard To-morrow Morning.

Abuses in Law.

Mr. Steward reports from the Committee to which the Bill for regulating Abuses in the Law was committed, That the Committee had, according to the Power given them, severed the Bill committed; and had agreed Three distinct Bills.

Costs in Actions.

The one concerning Costs in trivial and vexatious Actions:

Arrest of Judgment.

The other, to prevent the Arresting of Judgment, and Superseding of Execution:

Juries.

And the last, for preventing Miscarriages in Juries.

Which were delivered in at the Clerk's Table.

The Bill concerning Costs in trivial and vexatious Actions was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

The Bill to prevent the Arresting of Judgment, and Superseding of Execution, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

The last Bill to prevent Miscarriages in Juries, being supplied by loose Papers, and not in one intire Bill;

Ordered, That the Reporter do withdraw the Bill; and bring it in again, fair writ, in an intire Bill.

Supply Bill.

A Message, from the Lords, by Sir William Child and * *;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have returned you the Bill for granting a Royal Aid unto the King's Majesty of Two Million Four hundred Seventy-seven thousand and Five hundred Pounds, to be raised, levied, and paid in the Space of Three Years; with some Amendments, and a Proviso: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

And the Amendments being twice read, were, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

Ordered, That the Amendments be inserted into the Bill.

The Proviso was twice read.

The Question, &c. That the Words, "Cinque Ports" be added to the Proviso;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That the Proviso, with this Amendment, be agreed to.

Lord Strangford's Estate.

Ordered, That these Members following be added to the Committee to which the Lord Strangford's Bill is committed; viz.
