Colfe's Charities.

ORDERED, That these Members following be added to the Committee to which the Bill for settling the charitable Use of Abraham Colfe was committed; viz. Sir Edm. Peirse, Sir Hen. Worsley, Sir John Corryton, Mr. Trelawney, Mr. Howard, Mr. Chowne, Mr. Kent, Mr. Turgis, Sir Hen. Worsley, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir John Brampston, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Clifford Clifton, Sir Court. Petition from Clife

A Petition of the Inhabitants of Clife, within the Liberty of the Parish of St. Mary in Shrewsbury, was read.

The Question being put, That this Petition be referred to a Committee;

It passed in the Negative.

St. James' Parish.

A Bill for making Part of the Bailiwick of St. James, and Precincts thereof, parochial, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be read the Second time on Monday next.

Painters Stainers.

A Bill for the Regulation, and better Government, of the Company of Painters Stainers, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time on Monday next.

Coporations.

An additional Bill to explain and supply the Act formerly made for regulating Corporations, was read the Second time.

The Question being put, That the Bill be committed;

Committee of Trade.

Ordered, That Mr. Clifford's Report, from the Committee of Trade, be heard on Monday Morning at Ten of the Clock.

London Petition.

The Sheriffs of the City of London, attending at the Door, were called in to the Bar.

Mr. Sheriff Ryve did present a Petition, in the Name of the Lord Mayor, Commonalty, and Citizens of the City of London: Which he desired might be read, and taken into Consideration.

Which Petition being received; and the Messengers withdrawn;

The Petition was read.

The Sheriffs, and Aldermen of London, being again called in; Mr. Speaker did acquaint them, That the First Part of their Petition did intimate an Apprehension, That the City might lie under the Displeasure of the House: It was a great Mistake; and he did assure them, from the House, That they had an honourable and fair Esteem of that City, as they did deserve. The other Part of the Petition did desire, They might have Liberty to proceed in their Action depending in the Court of Common Pleas, to try the Validity of their By Laws: He told them, The House would not interrupt the Proceedings of the Courts of Justice; but the Law should have its Course. They well knew, That the House was trusted with the Property of all the Commons of England, and likewise with the lawful Privileges and Rights of the City of London; and, if any thing should come before them concerning those Matters, they would impartially discharge their Trusts to them both.

Rosier's Petition.

A Petition of John Rosier Gentleman was read.

Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee to whom the additional Bill to explain and supply the Act formerly made for regulating Corporations, is committed.

Lord Strangford's Estate.

Ordered, That Major Walden, Sir Cirell Wych, Mr. Edward Standley, and Mr. William Standley, be added to the Committee, to whom the Lord Strangford's Bill is committed.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Eight of the Clock.
