Prayers.

Flax and Hemp.

SIR Phillip Warwick reports from the Committee to which the Bill concerning the Sowing of Flax and Hemp was committed, That the Committee saw no Cause to make any other Amendment to the Bill, but only to omit a Clause in the Third Page; and, instead thereof, to insert a Proviso concerning Tythes.

The Proviso was twice read.

Resolved, That these Words "after the Rate of One Shilling by the Acre, and no more, for so much as by this Act is enjoined to be sowed," be added in the Proviso, after the Word "charged," in the Sixth Line of the Proviso, instead of the Words following in the Proviso.

And the Words being added;

Resolved, That the Proviso, so amended, be agreed to;

The Question being put, To have the Question put, That the Act shall continue in Force for Twenty-one Years; and from thence to the End of the First Session of the then next Parliament;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put, That the Act shall continue in Force for Twenty-one Years; and from thence to the End of the First Session of the then next Parliament;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went out.

And so it passed in the Negative.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this Clause following be added to the Bill; viz.

"Provided that this Act, and the Powers therein contained, shall continue and be in Force for the Space of Seven Years; and from thence to the End of the First Session of the next Parliament, after the said Seven Years; and no longer."

The Question being put, That the Bill be re-committed, upon the present Debate.

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the Committee do meet this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber, at Two of the Clock: And Mr. Bunkley, Mr. Seymour, Mr. Mountague, Mr. Culleford, and Mr. Daniell, are added to the Committee: And all the Members of this House, that come to the said Committee, are to have Voices thereat: And they are to make their Report To-morrow Morning.

And it is referred to Mr. Bunkley to take care of this Business.

Conference with Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir William Child and Sir Moundeford Brampston;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to acquaint you, That they have agreed to a present Conference with this House in the Painted Chamber, upon the Bill concerning Norwich Stuffs.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor General, Sir John Holland, Serjeant Charleton, the Lord Richardson, Mr. Pryn, and Mr. Vaughan, do manage the Conference with the Lords, upon the Bill concerning Norwich Stuffs.

Lindsey Level.

Resolved, That the House do proceed in the Cause concerning Lindsey Level To-morrow Morning, the First Business.

The Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for restoring Advowsons, Impropriations, and Vicarages, to the loyal Party; and a Proviso to be added to the Bill; were read the First time.

The Amendments, being read the Second time, were, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

The Proviso was also read the Second time;

The Question being put, To agree to the said Proviso;

It passed in the Negative.

Interposition to restrain a Quarrel.

Upon Information of a Difference that happened this Morning between Sir William Tirringham, Colonel Sandys, and the Lord Gorge; and a Mischief like to ensue;

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do seize the said Persons; and detain them in Custody till further Order.

Lords desire a Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir William Child and Sir Nathaniell Hobart;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords do desire a present free Conference, upon the Subject Matter of the last Conference, upon the Bill for the Militia.

The Messengers being withdrawn;

And the House having agreed to a present free Conference;

The Messengers were again called in: And Mr. Speaker acquainted them, That the House had agreed to a present free Conference.

Ordered, That Sir Richard Temple, Mr. Vaughan, and Mr. Swinfen, be added to the Committee formerly appointed to manage the Conference.

Interposition to restrain a Quarrel.

Sir William Tirringham, being in the Speaker's Chamber; and, upon Notice from the Serjeant at Arms, appearing in the House, did, at the Command of the House, give his Engagement to keep the Peace, and not to give any Provocation to the Lord Gorge.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Knight have the Leave of this House to go into the Country.

Conference with Lords.

Ordered, That those which managed the Conference do make their Report from the Conference To-morrow Morning.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
