Deane Forest.

A PETITION of the Freeholders and Commoners of the Forest of Deane, being this Day tendered, and opened to the House;

Ordered, That the said Petition be annexed to, and filled with, the Report returned, in Writing, from the Right Honourable the Lord High Treasurer, to this House, touching the Title of Sir John Wintour; and the Increasing his Majesty's Revenue, and Preservation of Wood and Timber in the Forest of Deane: And that the said Report and Petition be both taken into Consideration together.

Wey Navigation.

A Bill for cleansing, keeping, and preserving navigable the River Wey in the County of Surrey, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be committed to Sir Rich. Onslow, Sir Bainham Throckmorton, Sir Clifford Clifton, Mr. Onslow, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Edm. Pye, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Westphaling, Mr. Clifford, Sir Lancelot Lake, Lord Angier, Sir Rich. Braham, Mr. Scudamore, Sir Rich. Everard, Sir Tho. Allen, Sir John Brampston, Mr. Crouch, Colonel Reames, Mr. Geo. Relief of Loyalists.

A Bill for the Distribution of the Threescore thousand Pounds, Part of the Eighteen Months Assessment, amongst such suffering Officers as have faithfully served his Majesty, or his Royal Father, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be committed to the same Committee that was formerly appointed to receive Proposals for the further Supply of such suffering Persons as had faithfully and constantly served his Majesty's Royal Father, or his now Majesty: And, for that purpose, the said Committee is revived; and to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, at the Place formerly appointed: And Mr. Vice Chamberlain, Mr. Crouch, Mr. Mountague, Sir Phil. Warwick, Mr. Pryn, Sir John Brampston, are added to the Committee: And they are to expedite their Report with what Speed they can.

Lady Wentworth's Nat.

An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for naturalizing Philadelphia Wife of the Right honourable the Lord Wentworth, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be agreed to: And that the Title, being, An Act for naturalizing Philadelphia Wife of the Right honourable the Lord Wentworth, be also agreed to.

And Colonel Sam. Sandis is to carry up this Bill to the Lords.

D. of Albemarle's Patent.

Mr. Vaughan reports from the Committee to which the Bill for Confirmation of certain Letters Patents, made and to be made to the Right Noble Lord George Duke of Albemarle, of several Honours, Manors, and Hereditaments, granted to him by his Majesty, several Amendments to the said Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, did deliver the same in at the Clerk's Table.

And the said Amendments being twice read; and some Additions being, upon the Question, agreed to; and the said Amendments being, upon the Question, severally agreed to;

Resolved, That the said Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Frauds in Customs.

The House then resumed the Debate upon the ingrossed Bill for preventing Frauds and Abuses, and regulating the Receipts of his Majesty's Customs.

Resolved, That these Words, "or connive at any false Entry," be inserted into the Bill.

Resolved, That these Words, "open Sea," be inserted into the Bill.

The Question being put, That the Words "and forfeited" be inserted into the Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Words, "give out" be inserted into the Bill.

A Proviso, tendered to be added to the Bill, to restrain Ships of War from taking in Freight, was once read.

The Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the said Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act for preventing Frauds, and regulating Abuses, in his Majesty's Customs.

And Mr. Clifford is to carry up this Bill to the Lords.

Frauds in Excise.

A Bill for supplying Defects, and regulating Frauds and Abuses, in collecting the Duty of Excise, was this Day read the Second time.

An additional Clause was tendered to be made Part of the Bill.

The Question being put, That the said Bill be committed;

The House was divided.

Onslow, Mr. Pryn, Sir Roger Bradshaigh, Mr. Knight, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Rich. Ford, Sir Cha. Hussey, Sir Wm. Compton, or any Five of them, to prepare and bring in a Bill for regulating Abuses in the Payments or Receipts of the Duty of Excise: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock: And it is recommended to Sir Thomas Meres, to take care, that the Bill be prepared and brought in, with all the Speed it may.

Bedford Level.

Ordered, That the Committee for Bedford Level do sit this Afternoon, if the Grand Committee for Trade do not sit.

Highways.

Ordered, That the Business touching the Highways be taken into Consideration To-morrow, after Nine of the Clock.
