Tuesday, 6th November, 1660.

Prayers.

Hereford Writ.

ORDERED, That a new Writ be issued, for the Election of a Member to serve in this present Parliament, for the City of Hereford, in the place of Sir Roger Bosworth, deceased: And that Mr. Speaker do issue a Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, for Preparing of a Writ to that Purpose: Which the Lord Chancellor is to pass and issue under the Great Seal of England accordingly.

Grant to Princess Henrietta.

Ordered, That the Sum of Ten thousand Pounds be presented to her Royal Highness the Princess Henrietta, as a Testimony of the great Respect of this House to her Royal Highness: And that the same be paid for her Highness' Use, to such as she shall appoint to receive the same, at the Receipt of Excise, in Course, after the Payment of the Ten thousand Pounds formerly presented to the Princess Royal, together with Interest for the same, at Six per Cent. till the Principal shall be satisfied: And the Commissioners of the Excise are impowered and required to pay the same accordingly.

Fast Day.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to prepare the Draught of a Petition to be presented to his Majesty, for appointing a Day of Publick Fasting and Humiliation, upon the present Debate: And that Sir Walter Earle, Mr. Knightly, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Hungerford, Lord Bruice, Mr. Hollis, Lord Anchram, Mr. Gray, Lord Mansfeild, Mr. Stroade, Mr. Vowell, Lord Herbert, Sir Sal. Ordered, That an humble Address be made to the Queen's Majesty, in the Name of this House, to express the great Joy and Contentment taken by this House in her Majesty's safe Return to England.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Members of this House who are of his Majesty's Privy Council, to communicate the same to her Majesty: And they are also desired to represent the like Sense of this House, in relation to her Highness the Princess Royal, and her Highness the Princess Henrietta.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Apportioning of the One hundred thousand Pounds per Annum, upon the Counties, in Compensation for the Court of Wards, do make their Report on Thursday next.

Tiverton Writ.

Mr. Prinn reports a Bill for Levying of the Arrears of the Twelve Months Assessment, commencing the Twentyfourth of June 1659; and the Six Months Assessment, commencing the Twenty-fifth of December 1659.

Address on Ecclesiastical Affairs.

Resolved, by the Commons of England, in Parliament assembled (nemine contradicente), That the humble and hearty Acknowledgment and Thanks of this House be presented to his Majesty by the whole House, for his Majesty's gracious and tender Care and Indulgence expressed to his People, in his late gracious Declaration concerning Ecclesiastical Affairs: And that his Majesty be humbly moved to appoint a Time and Place, where and when this House may attend him for that Purpose.

Ordered, That the Members of this House who are of the King's Majesty's Privy Council, are desired to attend his Majesty from this House, humbly to desire his Majesty to appoint a Time and Place accordingly.

Ecclesiastical Affairs.

Disbanding the Army.

Sir William Doylie reports from the Committee for disbanding the Army, what Progress hath been made in that Service, declaring what Forces they have paid off; what Sums have been paid to every particular Garison, Regiment, Troop, and Company, and for discharging of Ships; as also, what Forces are not paid off; with an Estimate what Money will be necessary to pay off the Land Forces, to the Sixth of November instant, and the Ships to the Seventeenth of September last: And what Money, both certain and casual, the Parliament hath consigned to those Uses, with a Balance between the Charge and the Money consigned: The Substance whereof is as followeth; viz.
