Prayers.

Draining the Fens.

THE humble Petition of Sir John Monson, and others, was read.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Lord of Bedford's Bill, touching the Fens, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon in the Duchy Court: And that this Petition be referred to the said Committee, to examine the Matter of Fact; and, if they see Cause, to bring in an Act for Relief of the Petitioners: And the Knight and Burgesses for Lincolneshire be added to that Committee.

Micklethwaite's Estate.

A Bill for enabling of Joseph Micklethwaite to sell Lands for Payment of Debts, was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That this Bill be read the Second time, on Friday Morning next.

Droytweight Parishes.

A Bill, ingrossed, for uniting and consolidating the Parishes of St. Andrewe's and St. Mary Witton, in Droytweight in the County of Worcester, was this Day read the Third time.

A Proviso, ingrossed, was tendered to this Bill; That it be Enacted, that this Act, or any thing therein contained, shall not extend to prejudice or bar the Right of Cave Becke Clerk, unto the Rectory of St. Mary Witton, who was presented unto the said St. Mary Witton, by his Majesty, under the Great Seal of England, since the First Day of May last, and before the Ninth Day of September last; and is instituted and inducted into the same: But that he the said Cave Becke shall and may have, hold, and enjoy the said Rectory for and during the Term of his natural Life; any thing in this Act to the contrary hereof in any wise notwithstanding: Which was this Day read the First time; and laid aside.

And the said Bill, being put to the Question, passed.

Resolved, That this be the Title of this Act; viz. An Act for uniting of the Parishes of St. Andrew's and St. Mary Witton, in Droitweich in the County of Worcester.

Ordered, That this Bill be sent to the Lords: And that Mr. Street do carry it to the Lords.

Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

The humble Petition of Jane Done, Executrix of Charles Thynn; praying to grant her Leave to take her just Remedy at Law and Equity, against Sir Samuel Jones Knight a Member of this House, for a Debt of Four thousand Pounds, due by Statute to her from the Earl of Norwich, in the Year 1639; was read.

Customs.

The humble Petition of Christopher Metcalfe, Surveyor General of his Majesty's Customs, was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to a Committee; with Power to send for James Nuttall, Maurice Thompson, James Herringham, John Alward, Edward Roberts, James Phillips, Jos. Loe, Richard Hunt, John Legger, * Day, * Halfepenny, and all other Persons therein concerned; and to examine the Matter of Fact; and who are the Owners of the Goods forcibly taken away without Payment of Customs; and who are Owners of the Ships; and to report it to this House: viz. unto Mr. Ansley, Sir Geo. Downing, Mr. Hollis, Mr. Jening, Mr. Lowther, Mr. Vowell, Mr. Goodrick, Sir Ant. Ashly Cooper, Sir Salomon Swayle, Sir Tho. Dacres, Sir John Fredricke, Mr. Solicitor General, Sir John Rolles, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Knight, Mr. Titus, Mr. Wingfield, Mr. Rich, Mr. Stanley, Mr. Ellison: And are to meet this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber, at Two of the Clock. The special Care of this Business is referred to Sir George Downing.

Church's Petition.

The humble Petition of Anne and Mary, Daughters and Coheirs of Edmond Church Esquire, deceased, was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be recommended to the Commissioners appointed by the King's Majesty, to treat with Purchasers of Deans and Chapters Lands; to do Right to the Petitioners: And this House doth specially recommend the Petitioners to their Respects in the Matter prayed: And the said Commissioners are desired, in this Case, to give their Order or Advice to the said Dean and Chapter, to forbear to make any Lease of the Manor of Mucking in Essex, to any Person, until the said Commissioners have determined the Business.

Wards and Liveries.

The House, according to former Order, took into Debate the Settlement of One hundred thousand Pounds per Annum, to be settled on the King's Majesty, his Heirs and Successors, in Compensation for the Court of Wards.

Resolved, That this Debate be adjourned until Wednesday Morning next.
