Thursday, the 5th of February, 1656.

Clerk's Estates.

A BILL for disposing and settling the Estates of John Clerk Esquire, and Philadelphia his Wife, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Monday Morning next.

Carlisle Market.

The Question being put, That Saturday next be appointed for reading the Bill concerning the Market of Carlisle;

It passed with the Negative.

Oxford University.

Colonel Mathewes reports from the Committee, to whom the Petition of the University of Oxford was referred, That it is the Opinion of the Committee, That there be a Suspension of all Proceedings in the UpperBench against Dr. Palmer, until the Business be heard, and the Parliament give further Order therein.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, That there be a Suspension of all Proceedings in the Upper-Bench against Dr. Parlmer, until the Business be heard, and the Parliament give further Order therein.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to examine the whole Matter of Fact, and report their Opinion therein to this House.

Drury House.

Resolved, That the Report touching Drury House be made on Monday Morning next.

Union with Ireland.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House on this Day Sevennight, upon the Bill for Uniting Ireland into one Commonwealth with England.

Recusants.

Ordered, That the Committee concerning the Bill for Recusants be revived; and sit To-morrow, at Two of Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Drury House.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Business of Drury House be revived; and that they sit To-morrow, at Two of Clock in the Afternoon, in the Duchy-Chamber.

Cambridge University.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for Lands for Four Colleges in the University of Cambridge, be revived: To sit on Saturday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Duchy-Chamber.

Raising Money.

The House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Business for raising the Four hundred thousand Pounds.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Downing took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Downing reports from the said Committee of the whole House, their Desire for Leave to sit again To-morrow, upon the same Business; and nothing to intervene.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee of the whole House To-morrow Morning, to sit upon the Business for raising the Four hundred thousand Pounds; and nothing to intervene.
