Monday, the 24th of November, 1656.

Admiralty Jurisdiction.

ORDERED, That the Bill declaring the Jurisdiction of the Court of Admiralty in Foreign Contracts, be read on Wednesday Morning next.

Leadenhall Market.

A Bill for discontinuing the Leather Market at Leadenhall, London, usually kept on every Monday, and for keeping the same on Tuesday in every Week, was this Day . . . . the First time: And, ordered, That the same be read the Second time on Wednesday Morning next.

Yarmouth Ministers.

Colonel Cock reports Amendments to the Bill for Maintenance of Ministers in Great Yarmouth; which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed.

And the Question being put, That this Clause in the 4, 5, 6, 7 Lines of the 3 Folio do stand in the Bill; viz. "And if no Distress be to be had upon Return thereof, the said Bailiffs, or Justices, or any Four of them, shall have Power, by Warrant, to apprehend the said Person or Persons having no Distress, and to imprison them till Payment:"

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

So it was Resolved, That the said Clause do stand: And the Bill, so amended, was ordered to be ingrossed.

Exports.

A Bill for Exportation of several Manufactures, of the Breed, Growth, and Manufacture of this Commonwealth, was this Day read the Third time: And, upon the Question,

Resolved, That the Blank in the Second Leaf, and Sixth Line, be filled up with these Words, "the First Day of January."

The Question being put, That the Word "whereof," in the last Line save one in the First Page, do stand;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That the Word "and" be inserted in the room thereof.

Resolved, That the Word "it" be inserted in the Second Line in the Second Page, next after the Word "easy."

Resolved, That, instead of the Word "and," in the Second Line of the Third Page, the Word "or" be inserted.

A Parchment was tendered, with these Words to be added to the Bill, in the * Line of the * Press of Parchment, ingrossed, next after the Word "transport;" viz. "of his own; and to buy to sell again in Markets and out of Markets; and to keep or sell, or carry or transport, any or;" Which was read the First time: And, by Order, upon the Question, was read the Second time: And, upon the Question, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That these Words be added to the Beginning of those Words in the said Parchment, "for any Person or Persons, being Natives of this Commonwealth, to carry and transport."

Resolved, That these Words; viz. "and for any other Person or Persons to transport;" be added to the said Clause.

And the Clause, so amended, was ordered to be Part of the Bill.

Resolved, That the Words "to transport," in the Bill, next before these Words, "in the Parchment," be put out.

Resolved, That the Debate upon this Bill be adjourned till To-morrow Morning.

Privilege.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do apprehend Wm. Chitmill, and bring him to the Bar of this House, for his Contempt, in serving a Subpæna on Mr. Aston, a Member of this House.

Norwich Stuffs.

Ordered, That the Bill for regulating Norwich Stuffs be read To-morrow, after the Bill for Transportation of Commodities of the Breed, Growth, and Manufacture of this Commonwealth is dispatched.

Ordered, That the Report of Amendments to the Bill for settling Ministers, &c. be made on Wednesday Morning next.

The House being informed, that Edward Ruddock, who was arrested at the Suit of Wm. Pease, was at the Door;

Being brought in, and examined; he saith, he is the Servant of Mr. Mason, a Member of this House: and hath been so Three Weeks.

And thereupon withdrew.

Resolved, That Edward Ruddock have his Privilege; and be discharged of this Arrest.
