Message to Lords.

COLONEL Ven carried to the Lords for their Concurrence, the Ordinance for Election of Officers in the City of London: The Order for Allowance for the King and his Servants: The Order for adding Members of this House to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall: The Order for adding the Lord Gray, and others, to the Committee of the Revenue.

Answer.

Colonel Venne brings Answer, That, to the Order for adding the Lord Gray, and others, to the Committee of the Revenue, the Lords will send Answer by Messengers of their own: To the rest of the Particulars of the Message, the Lords do agree.

Col. Lilborne.

An Ordinance for Payment of Three thousand Pounds unto Lieutenant Colonel John Lilborne, or his Assigns, out of the sequestred Estates and Compositions of Sir Henry Gibbe Knight, Sir Henry Bellingham Knight and Baronet, and Thomas Bowes Esquire, lying in the County of Duresme, by the Committee of Sequestrations for the said County of Duresme, for Reparation and Damages of the said Lieutenant Colonel John Lilborne, sustained by Two unjust Sentences made against him in the Star Chamber, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Raineborow's Family.

Ordered, That the Letter from the Lord General, of 13 Novembris 1648, touching Colonel Raineborow his Wife and Children, be read To-morrow Morning.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

The Lords have commanded us to bring unto you an Order for a Publick Humiliation, on Friday next, within the Cities of London and Westminster, and the Parish Churches and Chapels within the late Lines of Communication, and weekly Bills of Mortality, for removing the heavy Judgments of God now upon the Kingdom, and for his Direction and Blessing upon the Counsels of the Parliament: A Resolution, That Sir Francis Molieneux be Sheriff of the County of Nottingham: A Petition of Thomas Thorold Esquire: Which the Lords do especially recommend to this House.

Publick Fast.

The Question being propounded, to concur with the Lords, that Friday next be appointed for a Day of Publick Humiliation within the Cities of London and Westminster, &c.:

And the Question being put, that that Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

Sheriff of Nottingham.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Lords, and do nominate and approve of Sir Francis Molieneux Baronet to be Sheriff for the County of Nottingham: And that the Commissioners for the Great Seal do issue out a Commission to him to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Sheriff of Surrey.

Ordered, That the Petition of Thomas Thorroll Esquire be referred to the Knights and Burgesses of Surrey: And that the said Committee have Power to examine the Business; and present a fit Person to the House, to be High Sheriff of the County of Surrey: And the more particular Care hereof is referred to the Lord Mounson and Mr. Snelling.

Irish Affairs.

A Letter from the Lord General, of 16 Decembris 1648, touching Ireland, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Letter be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to confer with the Lord Admiral, and consider, upon the whole Information, What is fit to be done; and present their Opinions thereupon, to this House, To-morrow Morning.

Dr. Dorrilaus.

Ordered, That the Committee at Derby House do meet and sit this Afternoon; and, if the said Committee fail to meet, that then the Report of Dr. Dorrilaus be made to this House To-morrow Morning.

Revenue.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

The Lords do agree to the Order, of 16 Decembris 1648, sent to them from this House, for adding the Lord Gray, and others, to the Committee of the Revenue, with these Additions; after the Word "that," add these Words, "Earl of Denbigh, Earl of Mulgrave, Lord Gray of Wark, Lord Howard, &c."

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Lords, to the said Order of 16 Decembris 1648; with the Additions thereunto sent down by the Lords.

Public Fast.

Ordered, That Friday next, being the Two-and Twentieth of this instant December, be appointed a Day of Publick Humiliation for both Houses of Parliament, at Margaret's, Westminster.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Mr. Dove is to carry it to the Lords.

Ordered, That Mr. Cockayne and Mr. Bond be desired to preach on the said Day of Publick Humiliation.

Mr. Smyth is, from this House, to desire Mr. Cockayne. Mr. Roger Hill is, from this House, to desire Mr. Bond.

Ordered, That Mr. Gurdon do, from this House, desire Mr. Foxley to pray before the House of Commons, at Margaret's, Westminster, on the said Day of Publick Humiliation.

Answer from Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers, to the First Message; That the House has considered of their Lordships Message: And, as to Sir Francis Molieneux, to be Sheriff of the County of Nottingham, they do agree: To the rest, this House will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Answer returned to the Second Message:

The House has considered their Lordships Message; and they do agree, as is desired.

Settling the Government.

Ordered, That this House do proceed, To-morrow Morning, the first Business, upon such Expedients as shall be offered, for Settlement of the Peace and Government of the Kingdom.
