PRAYERS.

Parliament Guard.

THE Lord Gray reports from the Lord General, That the Lord General will constantly appoint a Guard to guard the House.

Col. Lilborne.

Ordered, That Lieutenant Colonel Lilborne's Ordinance be read on Monday next.

Sir J. Cheymish.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do take Sir Charles Cheymish into his Custody: And that a Course be taken to proceed against him, according to Law and Justice.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Samuel Davers, High Sheriff of the County of *, have Leave, upon his Occasions, to come out of his County; provided he take care that his Office be carefully discharged in his Absence.

Letter read.

A Letter from Maydstone, of 7 Decembris 1648. from the Committee of Kent, was this Day read.

Westminster Petition.

The House being informed, that the Inhabitants of the City of Westminster were at the Door;

They were called in: And then they presented a Petition, which was intituled, The humble Petition of the well-affected Inhabitants of the City of Westminster, and Liberties thereof, with the Parts adjacent, on the Behalf of themselves, and divers others, who have acted for the publick Interest, in Times of greatest Dangers.

Which, after the Petitioners were withdrawn, was read.

And the Petitioners being again called in, Mr. Speaker, by Command of the House, gave them this Answer;

Gentlemen, The House has read your Petition; and find your good Affections and Care therein: And have commanded me to give you Thanks: And I do give you Thanks accordingly: And, for the Petition, they intend to take it presently into Consideration.

Militia.

An Ordinance for repealing the late Ordinance of the Second of December instant, intituled, An Ordinance for the Settling of the Militia in the several Counties, Cities, and Places, within the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwicke upon Tweede, was this Day read the First, Second, and Third time; and upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Sir Wm. Constable is to carry it to the Lords. And

It is Ordered, That the said Ordinance be forthwith printed; and sent down into the several Counties.

Information against Darnall.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Complaints, or any Three of them, to examine the Information given in against Mr. Darnall: And that Mr. Cawley be added to that Committee: And is appointed to take care of it.

Militia.

Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Serjeant Thorpe, Mr. Love, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Miles Corbett, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Holland, Mr. Browne, Mr. Millington, Mr. Wilde, Mr. Humphry Edwards;

This Committee, or any Five of them, are appointed for drawing an Ordinance for settling the Militia of the whole Kingdom.

An Ordinance for Repealing of the Ordinance of the Day of, for settling the Militia in the County of Lancaster, was read the * * * times; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords.

Ordered, That Captain Skynner do signify to the Committee of Kent, What is done upon the Ordinance touching the Settling of the Militia of the whole Kingdom: and to give them Thanks for their Letter.

Election of Lord Mayor.

Mr. Corbett reports the Amendments to the Ordinance for Election of the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, Aldermens Deputies, Common Council and other Officers in the City of London:

Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto: And the said Ordinance, being put to the Question, passed; and was ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Army.

Ordered, That the Troop under Captain Robert Greenwood be continued for Two Months longer; and be paid by the Committee of Sequestrations for the County of Derby.

King's Expences, &c.

Sir Henry Mildmay reports from the Committee of the Revenue, their Opinion touching the daily Allowance for the King's Expences, and them that attend him; and the Names of the Persons to attend him.

"Upon Consideration had of the Order of the Commons House of the Fifteenth current, referring unto the Committee of the Revenue, and other Members of the Commons House, joined, the Charge and Servants to attend the King, &c.

Ordered, and we are of Opinion, That Ten Pounds per diem be allowed for the King's Expences, and those that attend him; and likewise that the Number of Servants, in the List annexed, are necessary to attend the King. And we desire Sir Henry Mildmay to report the same to the Commons House accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth concur with the Committee of the Revenue, That Ten Pounds per diem be allowed for the King's Expences, and those that attend him.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of the Servants nominated by the Committee of the Revenue to wait upon the King at Hurst Castle.

Revenue.

Ordered, That the Lord Gray, Mr. Serjeant Thorpe, Mr. Lisle, Sir Gregory Norton, Mr. Humphry Edwards, Mr. Love, and the Lord Lisle, be added to the Committee of the Revenue.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Colonel Purefoy is appointed to carry it to the Lords.

Delinquents.

Ordered, That the Order of 9 Novembris 1648, that the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall shall have Liberty to grant Passes to such as they shall think fit, to come over to compound, that are not of the Seven that are excepted from Pardon, be, and is hereby, revoked and repealed. And

It . . further Ordered, That the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do make Stay of any further Proceedings with such Delinquents, until further Consideration be had, both of the Persons and Rates: And that, if they have, by their Warrants, sent for any Delinquents out of Prison, in order to Composition, that they forthwith remand them to their Imprisonment: And that Mr. Rushworth have notice of this Order.

Ordered, That Mr. Humphry Edwards, Mr. Dove, Mr. Love, Mr. Leman, Mr. Scott, Colonel Jones, Colonel Boswell, Mr. Skynner, Mr. Richard Darley, Mr. Smyth, and Sir Gregory Norton, be added to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall.

Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Ordered, That Mr. Richard Sallway be added to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, in the Place of Serjeant Wilde.

Prisoners discharged.

Whereas Benjamin Phineeis, Collector of the Four Months Assessment in Candlewicke Ward in London, for not having collected the same, was, by Order of this House, committed to the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms that attends this House: And whereas he hath since perfected his Account, and satisfied what is due; and, having received Discharge for the same, under the Receiver's Hand: It is now Ordered, That the said Benjamin Phineeis be, and is hereby, freed and discharged of and from his Restraint: And that such other Persons who were committed for the said Offence, and have perfected their Collections and Accompt, and paid in what is due, be also discharged of their Restraint.

A Letter, from Rumford, of 8 Novembris 1648, was this Day read.

Sequestrations.

Ordered, That the Lord Chief Baron be desired to deliver over such Reports as he hath in his Hands, from the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, unto Mr. Richard Sallway: Who is to report them to the House.

Hicks', &c. Sequestration.

Ordered, That the Committee of Essex do proceed according to their Evidence, to the Sequestration of Sir Wm. Hicks, and others, according to the Ordinance for Sequestration.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Mildmay do send down the Order to the Committee of Essex.

Militia.

Colonel Purefoy carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the several Ordinances for repealing the Ordinances for Settling of the Militia of the whole Kingdom, and of the Militia for the County of Lancaster: And

Brings Answer, That the Lords do concur to them both.

Settling the Government.

Ordered, That the House do take in Consideration such Expedients as shall be offered, for Settlement of the Peace and Government of the Kingdom, on Monday Morning next, the first Business.
