MR. Corbett reports from the Committee for Regulating the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, The Resolution of the said Committee; viz.
"Resolved, That it be reported to the House, as the Opinion of this Committee, That the Power of the Visitors and Heads of Colleges, or of this Committee, to nominate and appoint Fellows, or Demies, or any Persons, to other Places in Magdalen College in Oxford, be left to the President and Fellows of Magdalen College, till the Parliament, or this Committee, shall otherwise order."
Resolved, by the Parliament, That the House doth agree with the said Committee herein, That the Powers of the Visitors, and Heads of Colleges, or of the Committee for regulating the Universities, to nominate and appoint Fellows, or Demies, or any Persons, to other Places in Magdalen College in Oxford, be left to the President and Fellows of Magdalen College, according to the Statutes of the said College, till the Parliament, or Committee, shall take other Order.
Resolved, That the Door be shut till Twelve of Clock.
Mr. Rowse reports from the Committee for Reformation of the Universities, An Act for the present Investing of Ministers in Benefices, and better Payment of First Fruits, and Tenths: Which was this Day read the First time.
Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill touching Institutions and Inductions is referred, do report the same, the first Business, on Friday Morning next.
Ordered, by the Parliament, That the Committee for regulating the Universities be injoined effectually to proceed in placing able and fit Persons in the room and place of such Officers, Masters, and Fellows, in the Universities, and the several Colleges there, as are disabled by the Act for taking the Engagement: And to give an Account to the House, on This-day-fortnight.
The House, according to former Order, adjourned itself until Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
