Prayers.

Tryal of the King.

ORDERED, That the same Proclamation that was made this Morning, in Westminster Hall, touching the Tryal of the King, be made at the Old Exchange, and in Cheapside, forthwith, in the same manner: And that Serjeant Denby, the Serjeant at Arms, do proclaim the same accordingly: And that the Guard that lieth at Paul's do see the same done accordingly.

Grant to Dutton, &c.

Ordered, That the Sum of Fifty Pounds be charged upon Haberdashers Hall, and be forthwith paid unto Lieutenant William Dutton, and Captain Edward Carey, who brought the Letters from Sir Charles Coote, out of Ireland, for their Service therein: And the Committee at Haberdashers Hall are to make Payment thereof accordingly: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Lieutenant Dutton, and Captain Cary, or their Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Committee and their Treasurers, and to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

Army.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Lord Gray, Mr. Millington, and Colonel Hutchinson, to confer with Colonel White, touching the Payment of the Regiment of Horse in Nottinghamshire, under the Command of the said Colonel White, and touching the Free Quarter taken by the said Regiment, and of the Musters of the said Soldiers: And that they report the same to the House.

Oaths by City Officers.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor of London be required to send up the Book of Oaths to be taken by the Officers in the City of London, unto the Committee appointed to consider of Oaths, when they shall require it.

Navy.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to advise with the Admiral, speedily to appoint a Convoy for the Fishing Ships bound from Dartmouth towards the Newfoundland.

Settling the Government.

Mr. Love reports from the Grand Committee appointed to take into Consideration the Business concerning the Government and Settlement of the Kingdom, the Resolution of the said Committee; viz. That the Name of any one Single Person shall not be used in the Stile of Commissions under the Great Seal Writs, nor any other legal Proceedings, for the carrying on the Justice of the Kingdom: And that it is the Desire of that Committee, That it may be referred to the Committee to whom the Ordinance for settling Proceedings in Courts of Justice is referred.

Ordered, That the said Resolution of the Grand Committee appointed to take into Consideration the Business concerning the Government and Settlement of the Kingdom, be referred to the Committee to whom the Ordinance for settling Proceedings in Courts of Justice is referred.

Message from Lords.

The Question was propounded, That the Lords Messengers be now called in:

A Message from the Lords, by Doctor Aylett and Mr. Eltonhead;

The Lords have commanded us to bring unto you an Order for continuing some Forces under Major Butler, and Captain Stirke, in the County of Northampton: To which the Lords have agreed; with some Alterations; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House:-An Order for the Money of the old and petty Customs; which is, in present Cash, remaining in Controversy between the Committee of the Navy, and the Committee of the Army, to the Use of the Navy: To which the Lords do agree, with one Alteration, in regard some Part of the said Monies was disposed of by a former Ordinance; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House:-An Order for Colonel John Humfries Esquire to have an Office in the Custom-house: The Petition of Hugh Audley Esquire, Sheriff of the County of Norfolk: Both which they desire this House will take into Consideration.-Three Ordinances, which formerly moved from this House; the one concerning the Army; another Ordinance for securing Six thousand Pounds lent by the Commissioners of the Customs for the Navy; another Ordinance concerning Contracts made for Bishops Lands: To which the Lords do agree, without Alteration.

Answer to Lords

The Question being propounded, That Answer be returned to the Lords Messages, by Messengers of their own;

Navy.

Ordered, That the Business of the Navy be taken up To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Great Seal.

Colonel Martyn reports from the Committee appointed to take Order for Framing of a great Seal, the Form of a great Seal.

Resolved, &c. That a great Seal be graven, with the Addition of the Map of the Kingdom of Ireland, and of Jersey and Guernsey, together with the Map of England; and, in some convenient Place, on that Side, the Arms by which the Kingdoms of England and Ireland are differenced from other Kingdoms.

Resolved, &c. That, on the Map-side of the Great Seal, the Inscription shall be, "The Great Seal of England, 1648."

Resolved, &c. That the Inscription on the other Side of the Seal on which the Sculpture of the House of Commons is engraven, shall be this; viz. "In the First Year of Freedom, by God's Blessing restored, 1648."

Ordered, That it be referred to the former Committee to cause it to be engraven: And that Mr. Allen be added to that Committee.

Resolved, &c. That Threescore Pounds be charged on the Revenue, towards the Charges of this Seal, and be paid to Mr. Blakiston: And that the Committee of the Revenue do forthwith pay the same to Mr. Blakiston accordingly: And that his Receipt shall be a sufficient Discharge therefore.

Sheriff of Norfolk.

Resolved, &c. That the Oaths of Mr. Audley, Sheriff of Norfolk, be dispensed with: And that he shall have Leave to come out of the Country upon his Occasions.

Entries on Lords' Journal.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Millington, and Mr. Love, view the Book of the Entries, in the Lords House, for this Day; and make Report thereof to this House, To-morrow Morning.
