Prayers.

Bishops Lands.

AN Ordinance for authorizing Thomas Noell Esquire to accept, receive, and pass, all such Bills or Receipts for such Monies advanced on the Ordinance of 13 Maii 1647, as shall be vouched unto him by Colonel Robert Manwaring, the Register Accomptant for Bishops Lands, for the Payment of the last Moiety of the Purchase Money, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Colonel Harvey is to carry it up to the Lords.

City Officers.

Colonel Venne reports from the Committee appointed to consider touching the Election of Officers in the City of London, and Liberties thereof.

An Ordinance for Explanation of a former Ordinance of the Twentieth instant, concerning the Election of Officers in the City of London, and Liberties thereof, was this Day read the First and Second time, and, upon the Question, committed to the former Committee.-

Army.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired to the Order for continuing the Forces in Northamptonshire.-

Oaths.

Ordered, That Alderman Pennyngton, Alderman Atkins, Mr. Marten, Sir Gilbert Pickering, be added to the said Committee: And are to meet in the Queen's Court, this Afternoon at Two of Clock.

Ordered, That Power be given to the said Committee to consider of the Oaths to be taken by Common Councilmen, and other Officers, and of all other Oaths taken, through the whole Kingdom.

City Officers.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor of London, the Aldermen of the several Wards, and their Deputies, be required to proceed forthwith to the Election of Common Councilmen, according to the Ordinance of the Twentieth of this instant December 1648.

Harris', &c. Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Wm. Harris, Thomas Churchman, Henry Eldred, Wm. Layett, and Thomas Rosse, Citizens and Cheesemongers of the City of London, be referred to the Committee of the Army: And they to consider with the General, What is sit to be done therein: And to do the same accordingly.

Message to Lords.

* * carried to the Lords for their Concurrence, an Order giving Power to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall to give Oath: Order for Payment of the Money of the petty Customs to the Committee of the Navy: Order for adding Mr. Humphry Edwards, and others, to the Committee at Derby House: And Order for adding Colonel Stapley and Sir James Harrington to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations.

Court for trying the King.

An Ordinance touching the King was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That the said Ordinance touching the King be read To-morrow Morning at Ten of Clock, the Second time.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Serjeant Thorpe carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, an Order for approving the Articles upon Surrender of Scarborow Castle: An Order for the General to put a Governor into Scarborow Castle: An Order for Disbanding of the Northern Forces, &c.: An Order for Forty Pounds for Major Peter Acklam, that brought the News of Surrender of Scarborow Castle: Order for dispersing the Forces coming out of Scarborow Castle: Order for Alderman Pennington to be freed from a Statute due by him to Sir John Pennington, a Delinquent.

Serjeant Thorpe brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to . . . . several Particulars of the Message carried to them by him.

Aldridge's Accompts.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Auditors at Worcester House, to state and cast up the Accompts of Colonel Aldridge: And that the Committee of Accompts send over his Accompt thither to that Purpose.

Army.

Be it ordered, by the and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That the Two Troops of Horse, under the Command of Major Boteler, and Captain Stirk, be continued for the Preservation of the County of Northampton: And that they be paid, as formerly, out of the monthly Assessments, in and for the said County: And this to continue for the Space of Two Months; that is to say, from the Fifth of December, 1648, to the Fifth of February next ensuing, and till the House of Parliament shall provide in some other way for the Safety of that County: And that the Care hereof be referred to the Committee of the said County.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Sir Gilbert Pickering is to carry it to the Lords.

Navy.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do give Order to the Commissioners and Victualers of the Navy, That they allow to the Seamen and Mariners of the several Ships to be employed for the next Spring, in the Parliament's Service, Two Flesh Days in every Week, from the Day of next ensuing, until the Day of next ensuing, in such manner as was allowed unto them the last Year.

Tryal of Pirates.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of the Great Seal be desired to issue forth a Commission of Oyer and Terminer, directed to the Admiral, for the Tryal of S.. Lyndall, and other notorious Offenders, for Piracy.

Book of Rates.

Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired to the Book of Rates.
