PRAYERS.

Rainborow's Family.

MR. Scott, according to former Order, reported the State of the Business upon the Petition of the Wife and Children of Colonel Rainborow, deceased.

Ordered, That a Debt of Five hundred Pounds, demanded in Behalf of Colonel Rainborow, for Pay and Disbursements in the Irish Service, be left to the Committee of Adventurers for the Sea Expedition, for Satisfaction thereof.

Ordered, That the Sum of Two thousand Pounds be allowed unto Mrs. Rainborow, over and above the Thousand Pounds formerly given and charged upon the Excise, in full Discharge of all Demands for the Losses and Suffering of Colonel Rainborow deceased, and over and above his Arrears due to him, under the Command of the Lord Fairefax: And that the said Two thousand Pounds be charged upon Goldsmiths Hall, in Course, or upon concealed Delinquents Estates: And that the same Two thousand Pounds do go towards Payment of the Debts of the said Colonel Rainborow; and towards the Provision of Maintenance for his Wife and Children, by new Discovery or Under-value, or whether of these shall first befall, to discharge the same.

Ordered, That Mr. Holland and Mr. Scott do bring in an Ordinance to that Purpose.

Surrender of Scarborough Castle.

A Letter from Scarborough of 18 Decembris 1648, from Colonel Bethell, touching the Surrender of Scarborough Castle, and the Articles upon Surrender of the said Castle, was this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of the said Articles made upon Surrender of Scarborough Castle.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ordered, That it be referred to the General, to take care, That the Forces late comeout of Scarborough Castle, upon Surrender thereof, do not keep in a Body, but be dispersed, and sent to their Houses, &c.

Ordered, That it be referred to the General, to put a Commander into Scarborough Castle.

Ordered, That Forty Pounds be given, and forthwith paid, to the Messenger, Major Peter Acklam, that brought the Letter and Articles touching the Surrender of Scarborough: And that the same be charged upon Haberdashers Hall. And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Major Peter Acklam, or his Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, or to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

Ordered, That Mr. Anlaby do carry it to the Lords.

Ordered, That the Committee at Haberdashers Hall have Power, and are hereby authorized, to examine Witnesses, upon Oath.

York Militia.

Ordered, That the Militia Forces of the County of York be forthwith disbanded. And it is hereby referred to Major General Lambert, Sir Robert Barwick, Mr. Ralph Rymere, Mr. Matthew Beckwith, Mr. Thomas Dickenson, Mr. Richard Robinson, Mr. Thomas Stockdale, Mr. John Stillington, Mr. Thomas St. Nicholas, and Mr. John Farrar, or any Three of them, to see them disbanded accordingly. And it is more particularly recommended to the Care of Major General Lambert.

Ordered, That the Sequestrations of the new Delinquents in the late Engagement, in the County of York, and the Fines and Compositions for their Delinquency in the said late Engagement, not disposed of, do go towards the Discharge of the publick Engagements of the said County, and the Disbanding of the said Forces: And that an Ordinance be brought in to that Purpose.

Mr. Serjeant Thorp is to bring in the said Ordinance.

Proceedings against the King.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of a Way, How to proceed in a Way of Justice against the King, and other capital Offenders, do prepare and present to the House such Ordinances as they shall think fit concerning the same.

Mr. Phelpes.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of Mr. Phelpes to officiate here, he procuring a Deputation from Mr. Elsynge.

Customs.

Resolved, &c. That the Money of the Petty Customs, which is in present Cash remaining in Controversy between the Committee of the Navy and the Committee of the Revenue, be forthwith paid to the Committee of the Navy, for the present Use of the Navy: And that the growing Profits of the said petty Customs do, for the future, go for the Use of the Navy.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to confer with the Commissioners of the Customs, or any other Person whom they shall think sit, for the Borrowing of Six thousand Pounds, for the present Supply of the Navy.

E. India Company.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to give Leave to the Governor and Company of Merchants of London, trading into the East Indies, to carry over Foreign Coin and Bullion, to the Value of Thirteen thousand Pounds, in the Ships named the Greyhound and Endimion, ready to set fail to the East Indies.

Norfolk Petition.

The House being informed, that divers Gentlemen of Norwich were at the Door;

They were called in; and presented a Petition to this House, which, after the Petitioners were withdrawn, was read; and was intituled, "The humble Petition of the well-affected Gentlemen, and other Inhabitants of the County of Norfolk, and County of the City of Norwich."

And the said Petitioners being again called in; Mr. Speaker, by Command of the House, gave them this Answer;

Gentlemen, The House has read your Petition; wherein are many Things of great Weight and Consequence: And therein they take notice of your Care and Fidelity: And most of the Particulars of your Petition they have already taken into Consideration; and the other Things they shall so take into Consideration, and proceed so therein, as shall be to the Satisfaction of the Kingdom: And, for your Care and good Regard, they have commanded me to give you Thanks; and, in their Names, I do give you Thanks.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee appointed to consider, How to proceed against the King, and other capital Offenders, to consider of, and present to the House, some general Heads concerning a Settlement.

Weavers Company.

The House being informed, that the Commonalty of the Company of Weavers were at the Door;

They were called in; and presented a Petition to the House: Which, after the Petitioners were withdrawn, was read; and was intituled, "The humble Petition of the distressed Commonalty of Weavers, London, being many Thousands."

Ordered, That Mr. Scott do make his Report concerning the Commonalty of the Company of Weavers, London, the first Business, on Friday Morning: And that Mr. Speaker do put the House in mind hereof.

Transporting Horses.

Ordered, That Mr. Walter Strickland have Liberty to transport Two Horses beyond the Seas, Custom and Impost free.

Army Pay.

An Ordinance giving Power to the Committee of the Army to receive and issue out the Sixty thousand Pounds per mensem, for Payment of the Army and Garison Forces, and such other Forces as the General shall approve of to be continued, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Ordered, That the House doth adjourn itself until next Thursday Morning, Eight of Clock.
