Payment to Husbands.

Prayers.

ORDERED, That the Commissioners of the Excise do forthwith pay unto Edward Husbands Stationer, who hath printed many Matters, to his great Charge, upon Order, and for the immediate Service of the Parliament, the Sum of One hundred Pounds; and put it upon the Accompt of Charges: And that the said Sum of One hundred Pounds be allowed to the said Commissioners, upon passing their said Accompts: And that the Acquittance of the said Edward Husbands shall be a sufsicient Discharge to the said Commissioners, upon passing their Accompt for the Payment of the said Hundred Pounds, accordingly.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Army Treasurers, &c.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Ashurst be added to Mr. Greenhill and Mr. Pocock, formerly appointed Treasurers for receiving and Issuing out the Monies for the Officers.

Ordered, That Colonel Gore, Mr. Anthony Bickerstaff, Mr. James Story, and Mr. Maximilian Beard, be appointed Treasurers for receiving and issuing the Monies for private Soldiers.

Resolved, &c. That a Peny in the Pound be allowed to the Treasurers for the reduced Officers, and a Peny to the Treasurers for the private Soldier, for their Pains, and for the Pains of such as shall be employed under them, and for incident Charges; the Reward to be disposed unto such as shall be employed under the Treasurers, by the said Treasurers, in such manner as they shall think fit.

Resolved, &c. That the Treasurers that shall be appointed to receive and issue out the Money to the private Soldier, may be paying it upon the same Day that the Officers receive theirs, And that Christ Church be appointed for that Purpose.

Resolved, &c. That the Room at Guildhall, formerly made use of for the Paymasters of the Officers of the Four Lists, be ordered and appointed to the Treasurers, Field Offices, and Auditors, for the Payment of the said Officers.

Resolved, &c. That the Field Officers mentioned by the House, or any Three of them, and the Three Auditors, or any One of them, with Three of the aforesaid Field Officers, do sign the Accompts or Certificates of every several Officer whom the said Treasurers are to pay, or such other Tickets made by them: Which shall be a Warrant to the said Treasurers in that Behalf.

Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Bacon, Mr. Green, Colonel Birch, or any Two of them, are appointed to prepare an Ordinance in pursuance of these Votes.

Mr. Wheeler reported an Ordinance in pursuance of the Votes aforesaid: The which was read; and, upon the Question passed; and immediately carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, by Mr. Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Ordinance carried to them by him.

State Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for Relief of the Prisoners in the Tower, in Mr. Knightlei's Hand, be read Tomorrow Morning the first Business.

Treasurers Guard.

Ordered, That the Company of the Militia be desired to appoint Two Companies to guard the Treasurers appointed to pay out Monies to the Officers, and private Soldiers, respectively, at the Place and Time of their paying and issuing out the said Monies, to prevent Tumults, and to preserve the said Treasurers from Affronts and Injuries.

Westminster Auxiliaries.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Auxiliaries of Westminster be read on Monday next, the first Business.

Relief from Bonds.

Ordered, That the Ordinance in Mr. Weaver's Hand, concerning such as have been enforced to enter into Bonds for their Enlargement, be read, the first Business, on Monday next.

Officers Pay.

Ordered That if, upon the Certificate from the Treasurers appointed to issue out and pay the Monies to the Officers, it shall appear, that out of the Twenty thousand Pounds allotted for the Northern, Scotts, and Dutch, Officers, now in Town, there is not sufficient Cash to pay them as the rest, the House will take them into further Consideration.

Letter, &c. read.

A Letter from the Commissioners, from St. Albans, of 17 Junii 1647, with the Copies of Two Petitions in it; One from the County of Herts, the other from the County of Berks; were all read.

Army Pay.

Ordered, That Mr. Whitelocke, Mr. Gewen, Sir John Evelyn, and Mr. Tate, do withdraw, and prepare Letters to be sent to the General and Commissioners with the Army, respectively, upon the Debate of the House; and to acquaint the Commissioners, That the Month's Pay is in preparing to be sent to the Army, with all the Speed that may be.

Transactions with the City and Army.

The House being informed, That divers Aldermen, and other Citizens of the City of London, were at the Door;

They were called in: And Mr. Alderman Fowke acquainted the House, That their Committee did last Night make Report to the Common Council of their Addresses to this House, and of the Answer and Votes of this House; which gave the Common Council great Satisfaction: And that they had prepared a Letter to be sent to Sir Thomas Fairefax, and Council of War: Of which they have sent you a Copy; and desire your Approbation.

They are further to acquaint the House, That the City take notice of great Assemblies and Multitudes of Soldiers, that report to this City and Parts adjacent, to the great Disturbance and Endangering of the Parliament and City, upon Pretence to be listed, in Order to the Receiving of their Arrears: For Remedy whereof, and for the better Prevention of Tumults hereafter, the humble Desire is, That this House will take this Business into speedy Consideration, That all such Gentlemen, and Reformado Officers and Soldiers, which are not satisfied their due Pay may be commanded forthwith to repair to their several Counties, there to receive such Satisfaction as is, or shall be, appointed by the Parliament.

The Copy of the Letter from the Common Council to Sir Thomas Fairefax, and the Council of War, was twice read; and some Members of the House appointed to intimate unto them the Sense of the House, expressed upon the Debate touching the said Letter.

Ordered, That, To-morrow Morning, the first Business, the House do take into Consideration the Papers from the Army, inclosed in a Letter sent from the Commissioners, purporting a Charge against divers Members of this House; and the Desires in Order to the said Charge.
