Prayers.

THE Grand Committee of the House for Religion fat, to take into Consideration the Ordinance for Church-Government.

Mr.Whittacre in the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Whittacre reports, from the Grand Committee, the Ordinance concerning Church-Government: All which, except the last Article, was there voted: And that the said last Article was re-committed to a Sub-Committee, as to providing for Appeals by the Elders, and to supply any other Defects in it; and also to insert what other Votes are omitted, in fitting Places.

Resolved, &c. That the Ordinance concerning ChurchGovernment, reported this Day by Mr. Whittacre from the Grand Committee for Religion, shall be now read.

And thereupon the said Ordinance was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Ordinance, concerning ChurchGovernment, shall be now read the Second time.

And thereupon the said Ordinance was read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Grand Committee for Religion.

Resolved, &c. That the Sub-Committee do prepare the Particulars reported to be referred to their Care, on Monday Morning next.

Ordered, &c. That the Grand Committee for Religion do sit on Monday Morning next, to take the Ordinance concerning Church-Government into Consideration.

Ordered, &c. That the Ordinance and Report, concerning the Excise, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Ordered, &c. That the Report concerning Colonel Massie be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the next Business, after the Report and Ordinance concerning the Excise are dispatched.

Ordered, &c. That Sir Arthur Haslerigg do report the Letter from Lieutenant-General Lesley, and the Letters out of the North, To-morrow Morning.

A Letter from Mr. Rushworth, from Torrington, of 22 Februarii 1645, was this Day read.

Ordered, &c. That the Committee of the West, and the Committee of Plymouth, do not dispose any Monies to any private Persons whatsoever, but unto publick Uses only, during the Space of Six Weeks, without special Order of this House.

The Lords Amendments to the Instructions for the Gentlemen appointed to go into Cornewall and Devon were read.

Resolved, &c. That, as to the Three First Amendments; viz. For the Adding of John Waddon Esquire to the Gentlemen that are to go down; the Adding of the Word "Country," in the Seventh Line of the First Page, before the Word "Committee;" and the Adding of these Words; viz. "not being Peers of this Realm;" in the Thirteenth Line of the same Page; this House doth agree.

The Question being put, For agreeing with the Lords in the Fourth Amendment;

It passed with the Negative.

Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Nicoll, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Holles, Sir Arthur Haslerigg, Mr. Denyis Bond, are appointed to prepare Reasons to be offered to the Lords at the next Conference, Why this House cannot agree with their Lordships in the Fourth Amendment to the Instructions for the Gentlemen that are to go into Cornewall and Devon.

Upon Sir Gilbert Gerard's Report from the Committee of both Kingdoms;

Ordered, &c. That One hundred Barrels of Powder, with Match and Bullet proportionable, be forthwith furnished, out of the publick Stores, to be sent with all convenient Speed into the Province of Munster: And that it be referred to the Committee for Powder, Match, and Bullet, to take care for the speedy Providing of the same.
