Strode's Estate.

1^a vice lecta est Billa, AN Act for the Settling of Sir Robert Strode's Estate upon Sir Richard Strode Knight, according as it was intended, upon valuable Consideration.

Abuses in Printing.

Ordered, That the Sub-committee, heretofore appointed by the Grand Committee for Religion, concerning Abuses in Licensing and Printing of Books, be now made a Committee from the House, and enlarged, to take into Consideration, and to examine, all Abuses in Printing, Licensing, Importing, and Suppressing of Books of all Sorts; and in denying Licence to some Books, and expunging several Passages out of other Books; and hath Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, Books printed, or Manuscripts, conducing to this Service; and are to meet on Friday next in the Treasury, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Persons to be summoned.

Ordered, That Sir Nath. Brent, Sir Jo. Lamb, and Doctor Roane, be summoned to be here on Tuesday Morning next.

Smelting of Lead.

1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act concerning the Smelting of Lead.

Knight's Petition.

The humble Petition of Isaac Knight was read; and he was called in; and did avow the Petition: And it is referred to the Committee for the High Commission, with a Recommendation from this House, that in regard his Occasions earnestly press him into Holland, that his Petition may be heard with the most convenient Expedition that may be.

Prisoner discharged.

Ordered, That Sir Gamaliell Capell be forthwith discharged from any farther Restraint under the Serjeant at Arms, without paying any Fees; it appearing plainly to this House, upon Examination of the Complaint and Suggestion made against him, by Mr. Arundell, a Member of this House, that he is no Delinquent.

Attendance dispensed with.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Savile, sent for by Order of this House, as a Delinquent, be dispensed with for his appearing here till Wednesday next; a Member of this House undertaking, that he shall be a true Prisoner to the Serjeant, and that he shall appear here at that time.

Treaty with Scotland.

Moved, That Monday next be appointed for the Debating and Considering of the Scots Eighth Article.

Irish Army.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to prepare the Heads of the Conference to be desired with the Lords, concerning the Disbanding of the new-levied Irish Army, do presently retire into the Court of Wards, to prepare some Additionals, that are to be added to the Heads of that Conference.

Mr. Waller, and Sir H. Anderson, are added to this Committee, as to this Business only.

Wools, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bill of Wools and Woolfells, now sine die, do meet on Tuesday in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer-court.

Complaints against Chaffin.

Doctor Chaffin, who was formerly sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House, upon an Information delivered against him Jan. 23° was now called into the Bar; where, after he had awhile kneeled, he was bid rise; and the said Information against him was read; to which he was suffered presently to make his Answer; which when he had done he was commanded to withdraw.

The House fell into a Debate and Consideration of the whole Matter: But before they came to any Resolution, -

Disbanding Irish Army, &c.

The Committee that retired into the Court of Wards returned; and Mr. Waller reports from that Committee, That which the Committee thought fit to propose to the House, for an Additional to the Conference to be desired with the Lords, concerning the Disbanding of the newlevied Irish Army, and the Disarming the Papists in England: The Matter of which Additionals were, Motives and Considerations, to be offered to the Lords, for the Removal of the English Papists from the Court.-

Triennial Parliaments.

A Message from the Lords, by Judge Foster and Judge Heath;

The Lords desire a present Conference about the Bill of the Triennial Parliament, by the same Committee of the Lords, as Yesterday met about it, and a proportionable Committee of this House, in the Painted Chamber, presently, if it may stand with the Occasions of this House.

Answer returned by the same Messengers;

That this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a Meeting, presently, as is desired, in the Painted Chamber.-

Disbanding Irish Army, &c.

Sir Robert Harley is to go up presently with this Message to the Lords; to desire a Conference with their Lordships, by a Committee of both Houses, in the Painted Chamber, so soon as it may stand with their Lordships Occasions, concerning the Disbanding of the new-levied Irish Army, the Disarming of the Papists in England, and the Removal of the English Papists from Court.

Ordered, That the third Part of this Conference with the Lords, concerning the Irish Army, &c. shall be concerning the Removal of all the English Papists from Court: And Mr. Waller is to manage this Part.

Mr. Lisle is to be joined to Mr. Reignolds, to assist him in the Managing of the second Part of this Conference.

Sir E. Coke's Books.

Ordered, That the several Books of Sir Edw. Coke, deceased, who are now come to his Executors Hands, be delivered to Sir Robert Coke, according to the Intention of the said Sir Edw. Coke.

Holding Parliaments.

1ma et 2da vice lecta, The Amendments returned from the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for Preventing of Inconveniencies, happening by the long Intermission of Parliaments: The which Amendments being twice read, and no Man speaking against them, the Question for the Commitment of them was not put, but the Question for the Ingrossing; and, upon the Question, they were ordered to be ingrossed.
