Prayers.

Burlipp Roads.

MR. Trye reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for repairing of the Highways from the Town of Burlipp, and the Top of Crickley Hill, in the County of Gloucester, . . . . . was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout: and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House, with an Amendment to one of them.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Sudbury Workhouse.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for erecting a Work-house and Hospital in Sudbury, in the County of Suffolk, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor there: And that Sir Samuel Barnardiston and Sir Tho. Barnardiston do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Resumption of Grants.

A Petition of Harvey Morres Esquire was presented to to the House and read; setting forth, That, according to his Majesty's Declaration, of the 22th of February 1688, the Petitioner laid down Arms in Ireland, went home and lived peaceably; but, being afterwards indicted for High Treason, on Account of the Rebellion there, the Petitioner obtained his now Majesty's Pardon, being a Protestant, and never dispossessed of his Estate: That by a Bill, now before the House, for vacating all Grants of Estates, and other Interests, forfeited in Ireland, since the 13th Day of February 1688; and for appropriating the same to the Use of the Publick; the Petitioner is in Danger to lose his Estate, notwithstanding his said Pardon; And praying, a saving Clause in the said Bill, in Favour of the Petitioner.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Estates given to superstitious Uses.

A Petition of the President, Treasurer, and Governors, of St. Thomas's Hospital in Southwark, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That there is a Bill now in the House for the better Discovery of Estates given to superstitious Uses; and that the said Hospital has been at great Charges during the late War for curing above 2,000 wounded Seamen and Soldiers yearly, without any Satisfaction for the same; whereby the Debt of the said Hospital is much increased: And praying, That such Part of the said Estates given to superstitious Uses may be allotted to the said Hospital, as the House shall think fit.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the said Bill is re-committed.

Copper Coinage.

A Petition of the Mayor, Aldermen, and Sheriffs, of the City of Bristol, on behalf of the Retailers, Victuallers, and other Inhabitants, of the same City, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the vast Quantities of Copper Halfpence and Farthings in and about the said City is become burdensome; the Poor paying scarce any other Money, and Merchants and Farmers refusing to take them without Allowance; so that the Burden is likely to fall heavy on the poorer fort of People: And praying Redress of the House in the Premises.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Grocers, Cheesemongers, Mealmen, Bakers, Victuallers, Market people, and Retailers in general, of the Borough of Southwark, is referred: And that they do examine the Matter thereof; and report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

Burgh's Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Brotherton, Mr. Blofeild, Mr. Mawdit, Mr. Brewer, Mr. Fleming, Mr. Stevens, Mr. Fuller, Mr. Thompson, be added to the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, for settling certain Lands, in Essex, on Tho. Burgh Esquire, and his Heirs, in lieu of other Lands, of greater Value, conveyed by him, according to a Decree, and the Will of Sir Samuel Jones, deceased.

Hornby's Creditors.

A Petition of several of the Creditors of Joseph and Nathanael Horby, on behalf of themselves, and others of the Creditors of the said Joseph and Nathanael, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the said Joseph and Nathanael, being indebted to the Petitioners, and other Creditors, in a considerable Sum of Money, stopt Payment about March 1696 / 7; but soon after came to an Agreement with Two-thirds, in Number and Value, of their Creditors: But, being disabled to compleat the same, by reason others of the Creditors are Executors, Administrators, Guardians, or Trustees, who, as the Law now is, cannot execute the said Agreement; and, without the same be done, it will be to the great Loss of all the Creditors, and the said Hornbys Estate; the Creditors pray Leave to bring in a Clause, to the Bill for repealing an Act for Relief of Creditors, in case Two-thirds, in Number and Value, do agree, to enable such Executors, Administrators, Guardians, and Trustees, to execute and establish the said Agreement.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to a Committee: And that they do examine the Matter; and report the same to the House:

Wogan, Mr. Fuller, Mr. Sloane, Mr. Blaake, Sir John Bolles, Sir John Fagg, Sir Fra. Masham, Mr. White: And they are to meet at Five a Clock this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Turner's Estate.

Sir Eliab Harvey reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for supplying a Defect in a Conveyance lately made by Sir Edward Turner, and Charles Turner Esquire, his Son, for the more effectual securing the Sum of 12,000l. and Interest upon their Estate, was committed, That they had heard the Petitioners, and considered the Bill; and made some Amendments; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

A Clause was offered to be added to the Bill, That the Trustees shall not be chargeable with more than what they shall respectively receive; and that they may, in the First place, be allowed all Charges they shall be put to by reason of the Trust reposed in them:

And the same was twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Regulating Elections.

A Bill for the further regulating Elections of Members to serve in Parliament was, according to Order, read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Monday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the said Bill.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir John Fagg have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Punishing Knight, &c.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bills for punishing Mr. Knight and Mr. Burton, be read the Third time Tomorrow Morning.

Ordered, That Sir Francis Molyneux have Leave to go into the Country, for recovery of his Health.

Ordered, That Mr. Brereton have Leave to go into the Country for Eight Days, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ways and Means.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty.
