Members take Oaths.

SEVERAL of the Members of the House, who had not before taken the Oaths, and repeated and subscribed the Declaration, according to the several Acts for that Purpose, did take, repeat, and subscribe the same.

Wye. &c. Navigation.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill to make the River Wye in the County of Hereford navigable.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Walpole, and Mr. Hyde of Hindon, have Leave to go into the Country.

Answer to Address.

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, That, the House having attended his Majesty Yesterday in the Afternoon, to present their Address to his Majesty, his Majesty was pleased to speak to the Effect following:

I AM glad that I have done what is so acceptable to you: I shall always be ready to do any thing that may be for the Ease of the Subject, as well as for the Safety and Glory of the Kingdom.

Clerk Assistant relinquishes his Office.

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, That Mr. Gwillim, the Clerk Assistant, was going to an Employment he was formerly in; and that he desired to quit their Service with their Approbation: Which the House agreed to accordingly.

Printing the Votes.

Ordered, That Leave be given to Mr. Colt to move the House To-morrow Morning, in a full House, that the Votes may be printed.

Supply Bill; granting a present Aid.

The Order for the House to resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for a present Aid to be granted to his Majesty, was read.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Hamden took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Robert Atkyns and Sir Wm. Dalben;

Regulating Trials.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down a Bill, which has passed their House, intituled, An Act for the better Regulation of Trials: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Commitments of State Prisoners.

The Serjeant at Arms attending this House acquainted the House, That, according to the Order of Yesterday, he had been at the Tower, Newgate, and the Gatehouse; and had Copies of the Commitment of the several Prisoners there: And delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

Suspending Habeas Corpus.

An ingrossed Bill for impowering his Majesty to apprehend and detain such Persons as he shall find just Cause to suspect are conspiring against the Government, was read the Third time.

And an Amendment being proposed to be made, by leaving out these Words, "shall remain;" and, instead thereof, inserting these Words "may be detained;"

Resolved, That the Words "shall remain" be left out.

Resolved, That instead thereof, these Words, "may be detained," be inserted.

And the said Amendment being accordingly made at the Table;

Resolved, That the said Bill do pass: And that the Title thereof be, An Act for impowering His Majesty to apprehend and detain such Persons, as he shall find just Cause to suspect are conspiring against the Government.

Resolved, That Sir Tho. Littleton do carry up the said Bill to the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Graham and Burton's Accompts.

The Copy of the Commitment of Mr. Graham and Burton to the Tower was read.

A Debate arose in the House thereupon; and upon several other of the said Commitments.

Resolved, That the Committee appointed to inspect and examine the Accompts of Mr. Graham and Mr. Burton, do examine the Cases of the said Mr. Burton and Mr. Graham, and the other Prisoners in the Tower, Newgate, and the Gatehouse; Copies of whose Commitments were, by the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, pursuant to the Order of Yesterday, given in to the House this Day; and, as the Committee shall find Occasion, do prepare Accusations against them; and report the same to the House.

Kingappoints to be attended.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Nevill and Mr. Wallopp;

Mr. Speaker, We are commanded by the Lords to acquaint this House, That the King has appointed Friday Morning, Nine of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall, to receive both Houses, with their Address, which this House sent up to the Lords Yesterday, for their Lordships Concurrence.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Mr. Hamden took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Hamden reports from the Committee of the whole House, That, they having taken the Bill for granting a present Aid to his Majesty into their Consideration, they had made some Progress therein; and that they had directed him to move the House, that the House will, To-morrow Morning, again resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed further thereupon.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed further in the Consideration of the Bill for granting a present Aid unto his Majesty.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
