Crown Office Proceedings.

MR. Hutchinson presented to the House a Bill to regulate Proceedings in the Crown Office of the King's Bench at Westminster.

And the Bill was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Importing Silk.

A Bill for the Importation of fine Italian, Sicilian, and Naples Thrown Silk over Land, was read the Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed, upon the Debate of the House, to Mr. Papillion, Mr. Arnold, Sir Sam. Bernadist . ., Sir Ma. Andrewes, Mr. Blowfeild, Sir Sam. Dashwood, Mr. Slater, Sir Edward Turner, Mr. Freeman, Mr. Christie, Mr. Onslow, Mr. Cooke, Mr. Goldwell, Mr. Perry, Sir Walt. Young, Mr. Waller, Mr. Pitts, Mr. Biddulph, Mr. How, Mr. Clark, Mr. Smith, Mr. Bromley, Mr. Willmot, Sir Ra. Dutton, Mr. Foley, Sir John Key, Mr. Mountague, Sir Wm. Honywood, Mr. England, Sir Tho. Ordered, That the Consideration of the several Petitions of the Company of Silkthrowers, London, and of the Governor and Company of Merchants of England trading into the Levant Seas, which were formerly presented to the House, and read, and lie on the Table, be referred to the said Committee.

Privilege-Persons discharged from custody.

Then John Rawson and John Nunns were, according to Order, brought, by the Serjeant at Arms, to the Bar: Where, upon their Knees, they received a Reprimand from Mr. Speaker.

Ordered, That the said John Rawson and John Nunns be discharged out of Custody, paying their Fees.

And the House being informed, That John Lake, who was also in Custody, was sick, and could not be brought up;

Ordered, That the said John Lake be discharged, paying his Fees.

Then John How, Gentleman, late Mayor of Carlisle, Robert Jackson, and William Nicholson, Aldermen of the said City, were, according to Order, brought to the Bar, by the Serjeant at Arms: Where, upon their Knees, they received a Reprimand from Mr. Speaker.

A Member ordered to be restored to Freedom of Carlisle City.

Ordered, That the said John How, Robert Jackson, and Wm. Nicholson, be, for the present, discharged out of Custody, paying their Fees; Mr. Speaker, by Direction of the House, acquainting them, That the House expected, That Christofer Musgrave Esquire should forthwith be restored to his Freedom in that City.

Merchant Adventurers.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Consideration of the Petition of the Clothiers of the County of Gloucester is referred, have Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Records: And that Mr. Lutterell and Mr. Goldwell be added to the said Committee.

Bridgwater Election.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Elections and Privileges, touching the Election for the Borough of Bridgwater, be made upon Saturday Morning next, at Ten a Clock.

East India Company.

Then the House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of further Heads for a Bill for preserving, regulating, and establishing the East India Trade.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Smith took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Smith reported from the said Committee, That they had gone through the Matter to them referred; and had agreed upon several Resolutions; which they had directed him to report to the House.

Ordered, That the said Report be made upon Saturday Morning next, after the Report, touching the Election for Bridgwater, is over.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
