Leave of Absence.

SIR William Cook, upon the Motion of Mr. Speaker, for many his urgent and important Occasions, is licensed by the House to depart.

Inmates, &c.

L. 2a. LL. B. Against Dividing of Tenements, and against Inmates, Undersitters, unlawful Victuallers, &c. - Secondly read, and much disputed.

Conference deferred.

In the midst of the Dispute came down Sir John Crook and Sir Edward Stanhope, with this Message from the Lords:

That their Lordships have entered into Consideration of those Points delivered by the Gentlemen of this House in the late Conference; that they found them to be many, and weighty; and that they yet had not any fit Time to make Report of them to the House : They therefore have been induced, this Day being appointed for the Continuance of the Conference, to pray a longer Time ; and that they could have inclined, that Friday following should have been the Day, but that they had appointed another great Service of his Majesty's, that Day [a]: Their Desire is therefore, that it may be on Saturday, at the Place and Time usual.

The House assented; and deferred the Calling of the House till Monday.

Inmates, &c.

The Dispute continued, touching the Bill of Inmates, &c. and, at length, upon a Question for Commitment of the Bill, the House was divided :

Upon the Division, such, as stood with the Commitment, offered to go out; but seeing the greater Number by much likely to sit still, returned to their Places, and yielded. And so the Bill was rejected.

Sir Robert Drury, upon Information given to the House by Mr. Speaker, of his Wife and Daughter's Sickness, is licensed to depart.
