Issue 900l. to Conyers Darcy and Francis Negus, Esq., Commissioners for executing the office of Master of the Horse: upon account for the expense of the Stables [incurred] from the date of their commission. The Lieutenant Governor of Gibraltar's certificate dated the 17th Dec. last is read of provisions imported by Mr. Missing, the contractor for the supply of the Garrison. [Thereupon my Lords] ordered that the said certificate together with a copy of Mr. Missing's contract for victualling the said Garrison be sent to the Comptrollers of the Army Accounts for them to examine and report what is due to be paid to the said Mr. Missing for the provisions so imported pursuant to his contract. Mr. Secretary Stanhope having signified his Majesty's pleasure by letter dated Jan. 31 last that a credit of 1,000l. be lodged with my Lord Justice Clerk at Edinburgh for the use of the Earl of Sutherland, my Lords order that a warrant be prepared to authorise the Earl of Lincoln [Paymaster of the Forces] to pay [credit] 1,000l. to the Earl of Sutherland on the head of [Army] Contingencies and that thereupon his Lordship do take care that the said credit be lodged in the Lord Justice Clerk's hands accordingly. Upon reading a memorial of Mr. Cracherode their Lordships are pleased to order that Sir Francis Page, his Majesty's Serjeant at Law, and Mr. [Lawrence] Carter, one of his Majesty's Counsel and Solicitor to his Royal Highness, shall have for their service on the special Commission for trying the rebels in Lancashire 200l. a piece besides the 100l. already paid them: and that Mr. Wyndham and Mr. Bootle, the two other Counsellors at Law that were concerned for his Majesty in the said trials, shall have 100l. a piece more than the 100l. a piece they have likewise already received for the said service: and that the several Officers employed on the said Commission shall have double the sum they received respectively for their service at Bristol on the special Commission thither, viz. the Clerk of Assize 100l., the Clerk of the Arrains 50l., the Clerk of Indictments 60l.: as likewise that the several other contingent expenses as coach hire, horse hire &c. be paid by Mr. Cracherode.
