By Letters Patent of 5 October 1 George I [C.66/3508] the appointment of John Howe to be Paymaster of the Guards and Garrisons and of Chelsea Hospital and that of Thomas Moore to be Paymaster of the Land Forces in the Low Countries and elsewhere abroad and of the Garrisons of Minorca, Dunkirk and Gibraltar were revoked and Robert Walpole was appointed Paymaster General of all His Majesty's Guards and Garrisons and Land Forces in Great Britain and elsewhere, except in Ireland.
