On the petitions of Mr. Penman, Assaymaster of the Mint at Edinburgh, and Mr. Miller, clerk of the Mint there, the officers of the Mint in London have reported advising that 60l. be allowed to Penman and his predecessor Borthwick for their extraordinary pains and charges during the late recoinage in Scotland, and 60l. to Mr. Miller for overseeing the tale and weight of the old moneys delivered by the Bank of Edinburgh to be melted into ingots. Please advise my Lord Treasurer out of what moneys said allowances may be paid and what warrant will be necessary. So also as to the case of Mr. Houston, who prays that the 155l. 13s. 0d. due to him as late Collector of the Customs at Edinburgh may be paid out of arrears which he owes on account of bullion. |

My Lord has considered what you have laid before him concerning the revenues of the late bishoprics in Scotland and the vacant stipends there.
