A memorial of the 30th Sept. of Sir Theodore Janssen for two months' subsidy to the Duke of Savoy having been transmitted to the Lord Treasurer at Newmarket his lordship was pleased this day to signify his approbation thereof as follows: viz. to give his bill on Turin at 60 days for 106,6662/3 Crowns of 82 sols each, money of Piedmont, at 59 pence per Crown and to take in payment tallies on the General Mortgage. The [Principal] Officers of the Ordnance are called in [and present a memorial] for the remainder of this year's quota. [My Lord directs the issues to them of] 41,500l.

My Lord has agreed to the distribution of 449,481l. 19s. 2½d. remaining on the General Mortgage for 1709 in which provision is made for this 41,500l.: but the tallies are to be reserved [in the Ordnance Officers' hands] until same can be disposed of at par. And my Lord agrees to their disposing of the 30,000l. in the memorial for the Ordnance in Land Tax tallies. |

Mr. Belcher presents a bill from New England [drawn] on the Lord Treasurer for 200l. He is directed to carry it to Mr. How [Paymaster of Guards and Garrisons] for acceptance. |

The Attorney and Solicitor General come in. Sir Salathiel Lovel's letter concerning rewards for convicting burglars is read. They will speak with the Judges and report to my Lord. |

Desire the Gentlemen of the Bank to be here on Friday morning and that till my Lord speaks with them they would suspend any further proceeding on what was desired of them per Mr. Clayton. |

[My Lord directs the issue to the Navy Treasurer of] 1,000l. out of East India money for Sir John Norris for Contingencies of the Fleet. |

Write to Mr. Walpool to transmit to the Auditors the duplicates of the returns from the Commissioners for executing the last Act for raising soldiers so that it may appear what sums have been paid by Receivers and Collectors out of the Land Tax for that service. |

And write to the Agents [for Taxes] to hasten the Receivers General in their accounts and particularly to exhibit forthwith their demands for money paid for receiving volunteers and listing soldiers. |

[Send word to] the Agents and Mr. Herne to attend next Tuesday morning about the practices of certain Receivers in exchanging Exchequer Bills; and to the Attorney and Solicitor General to be here then. Some of the Gentlemen of the Bank will be here then. |

And my Lord will speak with the Agents about the Receivers that [do] not return their money by the Bank. |

[My Lord agrees that] the Bank may dispose of tallies for 32,898l. 15s. 7d. on the General Mortgage deposited in their hands for Exchequer Bills. |

My Lord approves that the Treasurer of the Navy may dispose of 44,095l. 3s. 3d. in tallies and orders on the General Mortgage for the year 1708. That sum being chiefly wanted to pay ships that will otherwise lie upon demurrage my Lord consents that there be a retrospection of four months' interest and upon bringing orders they will be endorsed accordingly. And my Lord appoints 8,000l. of this money to complete the pay of ships lost and taken [by the enemy]. |

Ordered that 18,586l. 14s. 2½d. of loans on the General Mortgage be issued to Mr. Bridges for Sir Henry Furnese in part of 50,055l. 11s. 6d. which (with 20,611l. 2s. 2d. in a memorial of Mr. Bridges) makes up 70,666l. 13s. 4d. in Sir Henry Furnese's memorial of this day, provided Sir Henry do lend the sum (about 10,000l.) which is wanted to pay the interest on the General Mortgage for the year 1707. |

[My Lord directed] that 16,293l. 15s. 10½d. be issued to Mr. Bridges out of Exchequer Bills to answer Mr. Chetwin's bill of exchange for the service of the Forces in Catalonia. |

[My Lord ordered] that out of Exchequer Bills and bank money in the Exchequer 35,325l. 11s. 11¾d. (part of Mr. Bridges' memorial for 63,294l. 15s. 1½d.) be issued to him to pay bills of exchange as in that memorial. Ibid., p. 57. |
