June 6 forenoon.	Present : ut supra. [Send word] to Sir Stephen Evance and Sir Theodore Jansen and Mr. Tourton to be at Windsor next Monday morning at 11 o'clock. [The draft of a] letter [of direction] for 1851l. 2s. 6d. for Newfoundland is read and approved. Ibid., p. 266.
June 6 afternoon.	[Attendance not stated]. The [draft of a] letter [of direction] for 200l. to Shrimpton et al for fire and candle to the Guards anno 1701, for same to be payable out of the Duty of 25 per cent. on French goods, is read and approved. [My Lord orders the issue to William Lowndes of] 600l. for secret service : Lord Cromorthie [Earl of Cromarty]. Treasury Minute Book XIV, p. 266.
June 12 forenoon. Windsor Castle.	Present : Lord Treasurer ; Chancellor of the Exchequer. Ordered that the usual letters be written for allowing the taxes on the salaries of the Navy Commissioners and their officers, clerks and substitutes. Notice to be given to the [exchange houses or] remitters to propose on Friday for 100,000l. to be remitted to Amsterdam to wit 50,000l. at 30 days after date and 50,000l. at 60 days. Ordered that 3000l. out of the money for the 8000 men for Portugal be issued to Mr. Fox out of the Contributions for Annuities : to be by him paid over to the Paymaster of the Transports to be employed by the direction of Mr. Atkinson and Mr. Roope for transporting 1500 recruits from Ireland to Portugal. Mr. Fox is to write to Mr. Morrice to take a particular account to what Regiments the said recruits are placed so that due care may be taken as to the respits, there being no other provision made for this extraordinary charge than what can be saved by respits. Issue 1170l. to said Fox out of the same [Contributions for Annuities and is to be] for clothing 900 of the said men at 26s. a man : and direct him to take care that the same be charged to the regimental accounts of the Colonels who receive the said men. Issue 4500l. to said Fox out of same : for levy money for 1500 recruits to be raised here for the service of Ireland in the room of 1500 men drawn from thence for the service of Portugal. [The draft of a] letter to the Auditors of Imprests about the 170l. set upon Mr. Blathwayte in the Excise accounts ended 24 June 1701, is read and approved. [The like approval of the] letter to the Agents for Tin. [The like of the] letter to Mr. Burchett. [The draft of a] letter of direction for issuing 2829l. 14s. 6d. to the Band of Gentlemen Pensioners and others is read and approved : but it is not to be delivered out till there is sufficient of the Civil List money in the Exchequer to satisfy same. [Order for] 1000l. out of Civil List money to be issued to [ ] to be paid over to Mr. [Bernard] Smith in part of what is due to him for organs. [My Lord orders a] Queen's warrant to be prepared for appointing Mr. Moor to be one of the Comptrollers of Army Accounts in the stead of Mr. Duncomb deceased. Ibid., p. 266.
June 16 Cockpit, Treasury Chambers.	Present : ut supra. [The draft of a] letter [of direction] for 164,808l. 15s. 2d. for the Navy and Victualling is read and approved. Direct Sir Thomas Littleton to take up 40,000l. on the Land Tax tallies in his hands at 5 per cent. interest : the same to be applied [to Navy uses] as follows viz. :

	[The draft of a] letter [of direction for the issue to Mr. Fox] of the third 10,000l. for the King of Spain is read and approved. The like for a [like] letter for 10,000l. to Mr. Nuting for transport service. The like for a [like] letter for 7337l. 8s. 3d. for transports to Holland. The like for a [like] letter for 29,323l. 19s. 4d. to Mr. How for the Forces [Guards and Garrisons &c.] in his pay. My Lord Treasurer [opens and reads the following proposals] and agrees with the respective proposers in each proposition for remitting one half [each] of the said sums accordingly : to wit (1) Sir Stephen Evance, Theodore Janssen, Santiny we propose to furnish our bills for 100,000l. for Holland viz. 50,000l. at 30 days and 50,000l. at 60 days at 10 guilders 8½ stivers current money [of Holland] per £ sterling. (2) N. Tourton, Isaac Guiguer, George Tobias propose identically as above. [Write] to the Earl of Ranelagh to send a list of the orders for Reversionary Annuities [in his hands] and direct him in the payment of the out pensioners [of Chelsea Hospital] to take care that each out pensioner have at least one third of his arrear paid to his own hand ; and that notice be given to the out pensioners to attend if they will when any of their creditors are satisfied out of the [remaining] two thirds. June 26 forenoon. Windsor Castle.	Present : ut supra. My Lord Treasurer is pleased upon signing the warrant for allowances [amounting in all to the sum] of 2076Z. for salaries to the Earl of Orford's clerks to 1704 Mar. 25, to declare that the said sum is intended to be in full of all services relating to the said Earl of Orford's account[s] ; and that the Queen shall be at no further charge therein. [My Lord directs] an order to the Commissioners of the Revenue [Ireland] to permit the Queen's ships to take on board their own provisions in Ireland without paying any Duty. [My Lord grants] Mr. Bertie leave of absence. Ibid., p. 268.
