Royal warrant to the Attorney and Solicitor General for a great
seal for a grant to Anne Evans, widow, of the estate (at Yeovil co.
Somerset) of George Knype of Semley co. Wilts., against whom she
has obtained judgment for 2000l. debt. Queen's Warrant Book XXII,

Same to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal for allowances as
follows in Thomas Neale's accounts of the Country Mints for the
silver bullion, clipped and hammered money and plate imported into
the 5 Country Mints lately erected at Norwich, York, Exeter, Chester
and Bristol to be new coined [in 1696] : the said accounts having
been prepared by the late Auditor Thomas Done and examined by
Isaac Newton, Master and Worker of the Mint, John Ellis, Comptroller
of same and Thomas Hall, chief clerk of same. The said accountant
is hereby to be allowed 2395l. 17s. 0¼d. being at the rate of 1d. per
pound weight for the first melting of 575,004 pounds 5 ounces of
silver, melted at the said Mints ; 6300l, for salaries of the officers
there (of whom a scheme was approved by the Treasury though no
Establishment was drawn up) being at the rate of 1260l. for each
Mint ; 9387l. 9s. 11d. for charges of building the said Mints ; 500l.
on account of Israel Hayes' bond as late Comptroller of the Mint at
Exeter pursuant to the Treasury Minute of 1698-9 Jan. 11. And in
making up the account of the Mint at York the said accountant is
to be charged with 1912l. 10s. 6d. for short returns of silver upon
the first melting and is to be allowed 624l. 0s. 9d. for an engine by
him delivered into the Mint at the Tower pursuant to an Act of

William Lowndes to Mr. Cardonel. I am in receipt of yours of
the 18th ult. and the 16th and 19th inst. new style. In reply I am
to say that the Lord Treasurer has with Mr. Blathwayt read over
the draft Establishments you sent in the first letter and has directed
Mr. Blathwayte to prepare Establishments as far as he is able from
the copies of such of the Treaties as are already come to his hands
and from your memoranda and amendments concerning the Regiments
of Churchill, Portmore and the 2 that were sent from Ireland.
The case of the additional Company of Brigadier Hamilton's Regiment
is referred to my Lord Ranelagh and Mr. Blathwayt and when
they have made their report my Lord Treasurer will give such further
directions therein as he thinks proper. My Lord has also approved
your [draft of a] warrant for taking off the respits from Brigadier
Lloyd's Regiment from 25 Dec. to Feb. 24 last. As to the pay of the
2 Brigadiers Orkney and Ingoldsby my Lord thinks that if Mr.
Sweet has already paid them from Midsummer to Xmas 1702 out
of the 700,000l. and has so brought same to account then no further
payment can be made hereafter out of the revenue of Ireland for
that time ; but if the money was only lent or advanced to them
then it may be satisfied in Ireland as was first intended, on their
giving an acquittance to repay the money advanced by him.
Please acquaint his Grace [of Marlborough] that the charge of the
Hospitals in Flanders is to come out of the poundage of the army
there and the said poundage is part of the clearings and cannot be
remitted from hence till the clearings are adjusted, and my Lord
Treasurer therefore desires that an account be sent hither of the last
2 months' clearings. And as he is informed that the Colonels or their
agents refuse or delay to receive the clearings that have been sent
to them, he thinks this may be prejudicial to the subalterns and
soldiers and occasion complaints. He therefore desires that they
may be received and duly applied "and consequently the poundage

to license Edmund Dummer, owner of the West India pacquet boats,
to carry goods and merchandises, on security for the due reporting

of such mines in Jamaica James II in 1687 granted to the late Duke
of Albemarle all mines of gold and silver in several of the Plantations
in America but to be opened within 3 years thereafter. The said
patent is void by non-performance. Petitioners may therefore be
gratified in their request and such grant may continue for 31 years
at a royalty of a fifth of the neat produce (which is the proportion
reserved to the Crown in the Spanish dominions) : the undertakers
working at their own charge, keeping duplicate accounts &c. and

Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal to authorise
John, Lord Granville to buy 1600 tons of tin yearly for 7 years from
the tinners of Cornwall and Devon : the tinners having represented
their sad and deplorable condition and the great decay of the
Stannaries during the late war occasioned by the fall in the price
of tin and their apprehensions of falling under the like if not greater
calamities by the combination of merchants and other dealers in
tin ; and the tin works being become more chargeable by reason of
their great depth and expenses in drawing of water and materials
being much dearer than formerly. The said purchases are to be at
3l. 10s. 0d. per hundred[weight] stannary weight to encourage the
tinners to continue and improve their adventures.

Admiralty Court as perquisites of the Admiralty, which condemnation
was in effect confirmed on appeal in Chancery. Out of the said
sum the amount of 207l. 7s. 6d. is to be repaid to the said D' Laet

Earl Marshal of England, dated June 20 to the Master of the Great
Wardrobe for the provision of a coat of the Queen's arms as they
are marshalled, of the length and breath accustomed, embroidered
upon velvet with fine Venice gold for Sir Henry St. George, now made
Garter Principal King of Arms ; and 18 yards of scarlet satin for a
robe and 10 yards of white taffety to line the same, with an escotcheon
of St. George to be laid on the left shoulder and laces, buttons and
