Speak to Mr. Hall to sell the King's stock in the new East India Company according to the King's direction conveyed by Mr. Blathwaite. Mr. Hall comes in and takes order therein. Ibid., p. 42.

[Order for] 5,600l. to be issued to Mr. Lowndes at the Exchequer: for secret service.
[Write] to the Earl of Ranelagh and the [Principal] Officers of the Works to be here on the 23rd inst about Mr. Tallman's works.
[Order for the issue to the Navy Treasurer of] 27,659l. 9s. 8d. now in the Exchequer of loans on the last part of the 3,700l. a week [to be as] in part of 57,644l. 12s. 3d. for the Course [of the Navy] which was ordered Aug. 7 last: out of this sum Mr. Gold is to be paid 4,000l. for hemp. [Order for] 567l. 11s. 4d. to the Earl of Portland for disbursements in Windsor Park.
[Order for] 1,300l. to the Earl of Manchester; 245l. to the Speaker of the House of Commons and 500l. to Brian Fairfax.
Send the warrant for two Commissioners of Customs to Mr. Blathwaite to fill in the blanks as the King shall direct. Ibid., p. 44.

Sir Tho. Littleton attending with a letter from the Navy Commissioners desiring about 30,000l. for wages to pay off ships which the Admiralty Lords have ordered to be immediately paid off to save charge to the public, my Lords order that 10,000l. be forthwith issued to the Navy Treasurer on the head of wages towards paying off the said ships: to be issued out of money in the Exchequer of loans on the first part of the 3,700l. per week out of the Hereditary and Temporary Excise. Ibid.

[The draft of a] letter to Mr. Blathwaite concerning Lord Lexinton's plate is read and approved.
The [draft of the] warrant for the minister and schoolmaster in Pennsylvania is read and approved [for despatch to the King for his signature].
The [draft of the] warrant for an additional 1,000l. per an. to the Duke of Schonberg is read and approved [for despatch as above].
[The draft of a royal] letter for Sir John Jacob's offreckonings is read and approved [for despatch as above].
[The draft of a royal] letter for returning £1728 15s. 8d. and charges [of exchange] from Ireland to the Office of Ordnance in England for arms for the Regiments of Donegall etc. is read and approved [for despatch as above].
[Order for] 1170l. 10s. 0d. to be paid to the Master of the Buckhounds.
The [drafts of the royal] warrants for Brigadier Belcastle and Col. Montandre were read and approved [for despatch as above].
The Navy Commissioners are called in. The Victuallers' letter is read concerning their imprest bills to be made perfect bills and inserted in the Earl of Orford's accounts.
Order for the issue (out of loans on the first part of the 3,700l. a week) of 5,000l. for arrears of wages and recalls and 20,000l. for wages to ships.
The sums remaining for the [Navy] Course on the Low Wine Act and the Two Thirds of the Land Tax [12 & 13 Wm. III c. 10] are [ordered] to be now issued by tallies.
Mr. Dodington is called in. He desires that my Lord Orford's account for the 27 ships may be dispatched by the Navy Commissioners.
[Order for] the issue to the Navy Treasurer of 10,000l. out of loans on the first part of the 3,700l. a week: to be on the head of Ordinary [and to be applied] for bills of exchange and imprests.
Supersede the process against "Col. Godfrey and executors of Lieut. Gen. Talmarsh" till next Hilary Term.
The Victuallers are called in. Order for the issue of 14,000l. for the Victuals in course: to be by tallies on the Two Thirds Land Tax immediately.
The [Principal] Officers of the Works and the Earl of Ranelagh to be here tomorrow week in the forenoon. Treasury Minute Book XIII, p. 45.

The Customs Commissioners are called in. Their papers are read and answers [are endorsed] on them.
Mr. Manly junr. to be a quayman London port.
Write to the Customs Commissioners to attend next Tuesday upon a representation from the Excise Commissioners concerning a seizure of brandy.
[Order for] 1,662l. 16s. 4d. to be paid to Serjeant Ryly by 50l. a week: on his bills. Ibid., p. 46.

The hearing upon the caveat concerning Audley End House is put off till this day week. Give notice to the parties.
Sir Richard Beling or his Counsel to be here this day week concerning the house wherein [Elizabeth de Durfort] the Countess de Rey (Roye) [Sister of the Earl of Feversham] lives at St. James's.
[Order for] 3,000l. more to be paid to Mr. Stratford for the cloth for Sweden.
The Earl of Montagu [? comes in].
My Lords direct 6250l. now to the Earl of Montagu for the Wardrobe: to be paid after all the particular sums already ordered.
Order for 500l. to be now paid to Mr. Henry Baker for law suits: and 100l. more for him to pay a warrant to — Farley.
Ordered that 6,000l. out of the money of this year's funds now in the Exchequer be issued to the Navy Treasurer in part of 9,000l. which by the Admiralty Lords is proportioned for the Sick and Wounded: and three fifths of the said sum is to be placed to the head of Wages and two fifths to the head of Victualling.
Likewise 25,000l. more to him out of the money of this year's funds lent or to be lent: to be for Wages to ships.
[Likewise] 3,000l. more to him out of same: to be applied to Mr. Gold's contract.
Hopton Haynes is to be Weigher and Teller of the Mint.
Memorandum: to move the King, as soon as he comes [back from Holland] for Mr. Killigrew. My Lords cannot give the King's money without his order.
See what [letters of] direction are unpaid at the Exchequer.
The rest of the money due to the Ordnance out of the funds of this year is to be issued to the Treasurer [of the Ordnance] by tallies, both for land services and sea services. Ibid., p. 47.

Order for the issue of 1,2706l. 8s. 9d. to the Earl of Ranelagh; of which 10,836l. 19s. 9d. to be for 3 weeks' subsistence to the Forces to Oct. 30 next and 1,869l. 9s. 0d. for two weeks' subsistence to be advanced to the Troops to attend his Majesty's landing. Hereof 11,321l. 3s. 10½d. is to be paid out of loans on the first part of the 3,700l. a week [Excise by 12 Wm. III c. 12] and the remaining 1,385l. 4s. 10½d. is to be out of loans on the Low Wine Act.
The Customs Commissioners [are called in. Ordered that] Mr. Ferne have 300l. a week for his clerks.
The Excise Commissioners [are called in. They say that] Mr. Edwards seized brandy at Yarmouth: the officer of the Customs as well as Edwards have locked it up: bulk was broke before the ship came into port: it was a small cask and seized after imported: there was another seizure of brandy by the Excise Officers near Ramsgate now lockt up by officers both of Customs and Excise. [By my Lords' directions] the Customs Commissioners will give order for gauging such seizures upon notice from the Excise Commissioners; and for preserving of them.

Likewise 4,500l. for wages: out of same: and is intended for paying off the company of the King's ship Advice Boat.
Write to the Earl of Ranelagh and Mr. Clerk to finish the draft of the Establishment for fire and candle with all speed.

Write a letter [of direction to the Exchequer for payment of] Mr. Blathwayt's 1,000l. out of the Civil List money when the letters [of direction on the said money] at the Exchequer are all satisfied.

Order for 390l. (out of the money for Wear and Tear) to the Navy Treasurer to provide shipping for Lord Cornbury's equipage.
Thomas Platt to have the place of Mr. Phillips deceased.
Order for 2,000l. for my Lords' salary.
Prepare a warrant for the two surplusages of Lord Cutts assigned to Mr. Mason.
Write a letter to the Exchequer to reserve 17,316 12s. 9d. (of the loans now in the Exchequer on the Two Thirds Land Tax) for the Victualling and to issue the rest of the said loans now in the Exchequer (and so much more as will make up 61,674l. 1s. 0½d.) for the Course of the Navy, by tallies on the Land Tax in the name of the Navy Treasurer.
Write to the Victuallers to attend on Friday morning.
Direct the Customs Commissioners to send two Officers to visit Lord Cornbury's equipage going to New York. The [draft of the royal] letter for 390l. for shipping for said Lord's goods is read and approved. Ibid., p. 51.
