Prefixing: report dated 1691–2 Feb. 24 by William Taylor, deputy
auditor [sic for Deputy Surveyor] on the petition of said Evelyn
for same. The said messuage was granted to petitioner 1663 May
27 for 99 years at 2l. 2s. 6d. per an. rent and without fine as of the
king's special favour; the king having promised him the inheritance
of the premises; which were at that time valued by Sir Charles
Harbord at 124l. 10s. 0d. per an. In 1663 Charles II granted to
Sir Richard Brown Bart. a close or parcel of land called Westbroomfeild with several other parcels belonging to the said manor which
grant was renewed on surrender 1671–2 Jan. 31 and is now vested
in petitioner. These were valued in 1663 by Sir Charles Harbord
at 316l. per an. The other piece of land is a ditch containing about

may be enabled to receive the money due to him on the said Hinde's

manor of Richmond, to grant licence to Sir James Butler to let all
or part of his copyhold estate within said manor for 41 years on

Surveyor General of Crown Lands, having on the said Butler's
petition reported that he sees no inconveniency in granting such a
licence to the petitioner; but that it may be rather [a means] to
preserve and improve the lands and that 'tis a favour generally
allowed by Lords of Manors to their tenants and that he has not
observed above 12d. a year paid for such a liberty. This warrant
