Same to the Commissioners for Transports of the petition of Mathew Anderson, owner of the David pink, Thomas Hogg master, shewing that the said ship was pressed into the King's service in Ireland to carry Ordnance stores in the late wars of Ireland, upon which account there was due to him 349l. 7s. 0d., whereof the Ordnance Board in Ireland ordered payment of 50l. in part; that upon application made for the remainder he was sent [referred] to the Ordnance Office in England, who rejected the matter as not proper before them: therefore praying that the remainder of the freight may be paid or such directions as may set him upon an equal foot with those concerned in the Transport service as are benefited by the Act of Parliament. Royal warrant to the Earl of Ranelagh to pay 2,242l. to William Blathwayte for his allowance for executing the office of one of the Secretaries of State attending on the King's person beyond the seas and in the Army, viz. for one year, 1694–5, Jan. 1, to 1695–6, Jan. 1: without deduction and without account. Mar. 18. Royal warrant to Thomas Neal, Master and Worker of the Mint to pay from time to time to Jonathan Ambrose, the Melter of the Mint, the allowance of three farthings on every pound weight Troy for melting and 12d. upon every pound weight Troy for refining the silver of the clipped moneys “in the due proportions according to the respective quantities” etc. as above; the said Ambrose having proposed to melt down the clipped moneys for the allowance of three farthings and to refine the same for the allowance of 12d., which the Master and the Comptroller of the Mint think reasonable provided he undertakes to pay all workmen's wages and to bear the charge of pots, coals and all other incidents relating to the said melting and to make up and answer the sweep of every particular fond or branch [of the revenue] separately by itself and to reduce the silver of the clipped moneys upon the refining to 15½ pennyweight at least better than the standard and to submit to such officer and surveyor as shall be recommended by the Warden, the Master and the Comptroller of the Mint. Mar. 20. William Lowndes to Sir Christopher Wren. In pursuance of the King's commands, my Lords have appointed the Earl of Ranelagh to pay 531l. to the Master of the Works in accordance with your estimate of the charge of building a house in the Savoy for the Provost Marshal, with a prison and other necessaries thereto. Please take care that the building be proceeded on with all expedition and that the said money be so applied. Disposition Book XIII, p. 109.

The Customs Commissioners have acquainted my Lords that 17,000l. of Customs money lies ready at Bristol to be conveyed hither in specie if a guard were appointed to attend the same. If a guard can be conveniently appointed from those parts, please appoint same. If not conveniently to be done, please acquaint the Customs Commissioners therewith, as my Lords have directed them in that case to send same up under a guard of their own. Same to Auditor Bridges, enclosing Admiral Russell's account of moneys by him received and expended in the Straits, with the observations of the Navy Victuallers thereon, and the said Admiral's answer to the said observations. My Lords desire to know whether the rates of the several species of provisions therein concerned do come out as cheap as the King's allowance to pursers of ships. Lydstone master, that he fitted her out as a private man of war etc., ut supra, p. 1216, whereon the Customs Commissioners have reported that the several Duties on that sort of fish commonly called Poor Jack, if of foreign fishing, amount to 1l. 6s.d. per hundredweight; which is of the nature of a prohibition: but that the present case deserves favour as an encouragement to captures of this kind.
