To the archbishop of Canterbury. Mandate as below. The recent petition of David Pryce, canon of London, contained that he formerly, by commission from the said archbishop, declared to have incurred excommunication and other pains, contained in a certain provincial constitution [cf. Lyndwood, Prov.p. 176], Thomas Savage, canon of Lincoln, who had administred divers goods left by the late Philip, bishop of Lincoln, the probate of whose will and the commission of the administration of whose goods belongs to the archbishop of Canterbury; that from the said declaration of excommunication, and from other grievances which he falsely alleged to have been inflicted on him by David, Thomas appealed to the apostolic see; that the present pope committed both the cause of the appeal and (at the instance of David, who alleged that it had been abandoned) the cause of the abandonment to Master John Lohier, a papal chaplain and auditor, who has proceeded to a number of acts in the cause of the appeal and in the cause of the principal matter; and that David has gained three sentences against Thomas in the cause of the abandonment. At the said petition, adding that the merits of the said principal cause can be better made clear in those parts than in the Roman court, and praying the pope to call it up to himself, the pope orders the above archbishop to summon the said Thomas and others concerned, and resume the said principal cause, which the pope hereby calls up to himself, and to hear further and decide it without appeal, causing his decision to be observed by ecclesiastical censure. To the prior of St. Mary's, Drumleathan, in the diocese of Kilmore, and the archdeacons of Hainaut in Liége and Kilmore. Mandate to collate and assign to Thady (Titheus) Magnivin, priest, of the diocese of Kilmore, who, by his grandmother on his father's side springs from a noble, even princely stock, and has to keep great hospitality, the still void perpetual vicarage of St. Bridget's, Nurnayg, in the said diocese, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, as he doubts the validity of the collation and provision (in virtue of which he obtained and holds possession) made to him by bishop Donatus, on its voidance by Patrick Offaircall [ai]ch, [now] prior of St. Mary's, Drumleathan, in the said diocese, making his profession as an Augustinian canon thereof [see above, pp. 384, 585]; notwithstanding that the pope recently ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of St. Friglemeus in the said diocese, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling. To the bishop of Bath (Bactonien.). Mandate, at the recent petition of John Steyle, rector of Langattok juxta Curghowol in the diocese of St. Davids—containing that although he held, canonically collated to him, and was in peaceable possession of, the said church with its chapels, and was of good life and conversation, nevertheless David, bishop of Dromore, asserting that he had sufficient power from [Henry] archbishop of Canterbury, without observing legal procedure de facto deprived him; and that he has been despoiled by John Waldebeef and Nicholas Elyott, clerks, Walter Groyn, priest, and John ap Watkin and Howel ap G [uil]lim laymen, of the said diocese of St. Davids, who take the fruits—to summon the said bishop, clerks etc., restore the said rector to corporal possession, hear the cause which he intends to bring against the said bishop,

Mandate to collate and assign to Thady (Titheus) Meicflaind, priest, of the diocese of Kilmore, the still void perpetual vicarage of St. Bridget's, Kyllnascanrath, in the said diocese, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, as he doubts the validity of the collation and provision made to him by bishop Donatus on its voidance by the death of Edmund Machyernan, in virtue of which he obtained and holds possession; whether it be void as above, or by the death of Cornelius Micamagister, or by the resignation of John Osyredean or of Nicholas Ofairceallaich, or of another.
