To the abbots of St. Mary's and St. Thomas the Martyr's and the prior of All Saints, by Dublin. Mandate to collate and assign to John Ardagh, perpetual vicar of Athboy in the diocese of Meath, I.U.B., priest, who has studied theology for several years at Oxford, the chancellorship of the church of Dublin, a non-major, non-elective dignity without cure, value not exceeding 80 marks, so long void, because Robert Dyck, archdeacon of Dublin, obtained, when holding the chancellorship, the said archdeaconry, collated to him by authority of the ordinary, that its collation lapsed to the apostolic see, although John Ysac, priest, of the said diocese, who is to be summoned and removed, has detained possession for about two years under pretext of a collation made to him, by his ordinary authority, by archbishop Richard, who was then under sentence of excommunication; whether it be void as stated, or by the death of John Ludington, or in any other way, and notwithstanding that John holds the said vicarage, value not exceeding 30 marks, with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the chancellorship for two years. To the provost and Thomas Obrind, canon, of Tuam, and Cornelius Odubgilla, canon of Kilmacduagh. Mandate as below. Recently (on its being set forth to the pope on behalf of William Bremugay, priest, of the diocese of Tuam, that he formerly received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice with or without cure, and subsequently, having been tonsured in virtue of the said dispensation, to hold the archdeaconry of Tuam, by the same letters whereby provision thereof was ordered to be made to him; after which latter dispensation he obtained, collated to him by papal authority, the said archdeaconry and afterwards obtained successively, without other dispensation on account of his said defect, collated to him by authority of the ordinary, the rectories of Dunmor and Ahatnary in the said diocese, all which he held together for eight years against Execrabilis, still detaining the archdeaconry) the pope rehabilitated him, requiring him to resign the archdeaconry. The pope now orders the above three to collate and assign to William, upon his duly resigning, the same, a non-major non-elective dignity, value not exceeding 12
marks, whether it be void as aforesaid, or because John de Burgo, then a secular priest, entered and made his profession as a canon of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary, Cong, in the said diocese, or in any other way.
