To Laurence Obeollayn, canon of Killala, bachelor of canon law. Collation and provision to him—who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a married man and an unmarried woman, (i) to be promoted etc. as above, f. 258d, (ii) to receive and hold any dignities, major or principal, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, and also to be promoted to episcopal dignities [above, p. 445]—of a canonry of Killala (Aladen.) and another of Achonry (Akaden.), with reservation of a prebend in each; notwithstanding that the pope recently ordered provision to be made to him of the provostship of Killala (Aladen.), a non-major dignity, value not exceeding 20 marks, and made provision to him [above, p. 436] of a canonry with reservation of a prebend and dignity etc. of Elphin, even if such dignity were elective and had cure, provided that it were not major, and of a benefice with or without cure, in the common or several gift of the bishop and chapter of Killala (Aladen.), and dispensed him to hold for ten years two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible. Collation and provision to him—who has studied canon and civil law for more than seven years at Oxford, and who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 258d—of a canonry of Limerick and another of Killaloe, with reservation of a prebend of each, and of a dignity etc. of one of them; notwithstanding that he holds the chapel without cure of Chapel Russell (de Rosellis) in the diocese of Limerick, value not exceeding 1 mark. He is hereby dispensed to hold such canonry and prebend and dignity etc. for life, and to hold for seven years any two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible. Vite etc. |

Mandate to reserve, and afterwards to collate and assign to Thomas Macmachuna, clerk, of the said diocese—who by both parents is descended from kings, and who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried nobleman and an unmarried noblewoman, related in the third and third and the third and fourth degrees of kindred and in the fourth and fourth degrees of affinity, (i) to be promoted etc. as above, f. 258d, (ii) to receive and to hold the archdeaconry of Limerick, a non-major dignity with cure, provision of which the pope ordered to be made to him—a benefice with or without cure (even if it be a canonry and prebend or dignity of a cathedral church, and such dignity be elective and have cure, provided that it be not major), value, if it have cure or be a dignity, not exceeding 25 marks, or if it have not cure or be not a dignity, not exceeding 18, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the archdeacons and each of the canons of Killaloe and Limerick; notwithstanding that the pope has ordered provision to be made to him of the said archdeaconry, value not exceeding 40 marks. Collation and provision to him—who is of a race of kings and dukes, and who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, related in the fourth and fourth degrees of kindred, to be promoted etc., as above, f. 258d—of a canonry of Ardagh, with reservation of a prebend and of a benefice with or without cure (even if it be a dignity with cure but not major in a cathedral church), value, if it have cure or be a dignity, not exceeding 25 marks, if it be without cure and be not a dignity, not exceeding 18, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the dean and chapter of Ardagh; notwithstanding that provision was lately made to him by papal authority of the perpetual vicarage of Kyllffyelan in the diocese of Ardagh, value not exceeding 8 marks. He is hereby dispensed to hold for life with the said vicarage such canonry and prebend etc. Vite etc. |

Reservation, for collation to him—who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, (i) to be promoted etc. as above, f. 258d, (ii) to receive and hold the canonry and prebend of St. Munchin (Sancti Monchini) in Limerick and the perpetual vicarage of Kyldyma in the diocese of Limerick, provision of which was [above, p. 518] ordered to be made to him by papal authority—of one or two benefices (even if one of them have cure or be a dignity etc. in a cathedral or a collegiate church, and such dignity etc. be elective and have cure, provided that such dignity be neither major nor principal), value, if one of such benefices have cure, not exceeding 25 marks, if they be without cure, not exceeding 18, in the common or several gift of the bishops and the deans and chapters of Limerick and Killaloe; notwithstanding that he holds the said canonry and prebend and the said vicarage, value not exceeding 12 and 4 marks respectively. He is hereby dispensed to receive and hold for life such reserved benefices, and to hold for seven years together with the said vicarage such dignity, office with cure, reserved, or any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible. Reservation, for collation to him—who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, (i) to be promoted etc. as above, f. 258d, (ii) when holding the above vicarage, to hold also the rectory of Dundaygre in the same diocese, provision of which the pope ordered to be made to him—of one or two benefices, even if one of them have cure, value, if one have cure, not exceeding 25 marks, if neither have cure, not exceeding 18, in the common or several gift of the bishops and the deans and chapters of Clonfert and Kilmacduagh, even if they be canonries and prebends of those churches; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, and that the pope has ordered provision to be made to him of the said rectory, value not exceeding 8 and 12 marks respectively. He is hereby dispensed to hold for life such reserved benefice or benefices, and to hold for seven years with the said vicarage or rectory such reserved benefice with cure, or any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible.
