Mandate to forbid all persons, ecclesiastical and secular, of any rank soever, to teach, defend or approve in churches or schools or elsewhere any of the works of John Wiclef of England, his books called the Dialogus and Trialogus, his tractates, and his opuscula containing the forty-five articles, which works were condemned by the general councils of Rome and Constance [see above, f. 181], and have been publicly burned in divers places; to forbid ecclesiastics to preach anywhere except in cathedral, collegiate, parish or monastic churches or their cemeteries or other lawful places; and to enjoin such persons to produce whatever of the said works they possess or can get hold of, in order that they may be burned. The necessary faculties are given. Gregis nobis crediti curam gerentes. (De curia.) [On f. 285d is a similar letter addressed to all archbishops and bishops.]

f. 248d.)		 To the bishop of Lincoln. Mandate, in execution of the sentence of the Council of Constance [4 May, 1415, in Labbe, Concilia, ed. Mansi, tom. XXVII, coll. 635, 636], which the pope has by other letters confirmed, to publish the same and to proceed in person to the place, in the bishop's diocese, where John Wickleff is buried, and cause his body and bones to be exhumed, cast far from ecclesiastical burial and publicly burned, and his ashes to be so disposed of that no trace of him shall be seen again.
