Ne censure ecclesiastice contemptibiles reputenturetc., ut patet de verbo ad verbum registrata in libro ii de curia domini Sixti folio 18, etc.’ [i. e. Reg. Vat. DCLV, ff. 18v.–22v., dated 1482, 8 Id. May, anno 11, about illicit trading in alum]; with decree, also motu proprio, enjoining the stricter enforcement of the same; and mandate executory to the archbishops of York and Cosenza (Cusentin.) and the provost of the church of St. Hermès, Renaix (Sancti Hermetis Rothnacen.), in the diocese of Cambrai. (f. 63v.)
To the archbishop and the dean of Cashel (Cassellen.), and Thomas Wyth, a canon of the same. Mandate to collate and assign to William Ocahyll, clerk, of the diocese of Emly (Im [e]lacen.) (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and receive and retain any compatible benefices with and without cure, even if canonries and prebends, dignities, etc., and to resign them, etc.) the chancellorship of Lismore, a nonmajor dignity with cure, yearly value not exceeding 20 marks sterling, so long void that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although John Wyth, clerk, who is to be summoned and removed, has detained possession for some years without any canonical title, the said William having no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Lismore. Vite ac morum. [4 pp.]
1485–6.
12 Kal. April.
(21 March.)
St. Peter's, Rome.
(f. 182r.)
To John Ohuallachayn, Bernard Ohedyrceoyl, and Donald Onchaytin, canons of Ross. Mandate to collate and assign to Donatus Ossega, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Gleanmuke, alias de Templo novo, in the diocese of Ardfert (who is of noble birth, and who from fear of the below-named Dermit cannot safely meet him in the city and diocese of Ardfert), the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Kylmancan in the said diocese, yearly value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, which was erected by papal authority into a prebend of Ardfert for the lifetime of Dermit Ysullevayn, clerk, of the said diocese, and which is void, in accordance with provincial constitutions which provide that any canon of Ardfert, holding a canonry and a prebend erected out of the rectory or the vicarage of a parish church, is bound to have himself promoted to the priesthood within a certain time, under pain of eo ipso deprivation, because the said Dermit, without having obtained any canonical dispensation, has not had himself so promoted, although the said Dermit, who is to be summoned and removed, has without any new canonical title detained the said vicarage for between one and three years. The pope further dispenses the said Donatus to receive the said vicarage of Kilmancan, and to retain it for life with that of Gleanmuke, etc., and to resign, etc., and receive instead and retain for life two incompatible benefices, not being major or principal dignities, etc. Nobilitas generis, vite etc. [5¼ pp.]

(fn. 2) Mandate to collate and assign to Donatus Oconthy, (fn. 3) clerk, of Ardfert (who was lately dispensed on account of illegitimacy, as the son of unmarried parents, by authority of the ordinary to be made a clerk, and afterwards by papal authority to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself made a clerk), the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Cnocnyur in the said diocese, yearly value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, so long void that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Cornelius Okaely, priest, of the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), who is to be summoned and removed, has detained possession of it for some years without any canonical title. 2 Innocent VIII.

To the prior of the monastery of St. Mary alias St. Tierney (sancti Tigernachi), Achamicharyt, (fn. 4) in the diocese of Ossory, the dean of Ossory, and Edmund Comortun, a canon of the same. Mandate, as below. The priorship of the monastery, wont to be governed by a prior, of St. Kieran (sancti Kyranii) de Syr, O.S.A., in the diocese of Ossory, which is conventual, has become void by the death extra R.c. of Cornelius Migillafoil, and reserved under the pope's late reservation of all conventual priories. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three to receive John Oflannagayn, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe (fn. 5) (who alleges that the rectory of the [parish] church of St. Macanisius (?) (sancti Micknesy) de Finchora, in the said diocese of Ossory, has been wont from time immemorial to be held by the priors of the said monastery, as being united, etc., thereto, and that he doubts the force of such union, etc., and that Nicholas Omaenacham, a canon of the said monastery, has for between two and four years detained possession of the said priorship without any title or right), as a canon of the said monastery, give him the regular habit thereof, and receive his profession, and thereupon to collate and assign to him the said priorship and rectory, which (quibus) have cure of souls, and the yearly value of which together does not exceed 35 marks sterling, and to unite, etc., the said rectory to the said priorship for his lifetime only; summoning and removing the said Nicholas.
