1471[–2]. 15 Kal. March. (16 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 1r.)	To Thomas Overay, chancellor of Wells. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of John Lugwardyne, priest, of the diocese of Bath and Wells, contained that formerly, when in his twentyfirst year, he had himself promoted to the order of the priesthood, and that, being suspended from the execution thereof, he ministered therein, viz. in the ministry of the altar, but not in contempt of the Keys, thereby incurring irregularity. At his said petition, the pope orders the above chancellor to absolve him, who is in his twenty-first [sic] year, from the said excess, enjoining a salutary penance, etc., dispense him on account of irregularity, and rehabilitate him, etc. Sedes apostolica, pia mater. 1471. 6 Kal. Oct. (26 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 34r.)	To Thomas Hawkyns, archdeacon of Worcester, M.A. Dispensation, as below. Pope Calixtus iii dispensed him to receive and retain for life with the parish church of Bredon’ alias Breden', (fn. 2) in the diocese of Worcester, any other benefice, or, if he resigned that church, any two other benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if two dignities, etc., or two parish churches, etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. The pope hereby dispenses him (who is a scholar in theology, and has resigned the said church of Bredon’ alias Breden', (fn. 3) and obtained the archdeaconry of Worcester, a nonmajor dignity, and the parish church of Clyve [episcopi] in the said diocese) to receive and retain for five years with the said archdeaconry (even if it be elective and have cure) and the said church, and, without them, with any other two incompatible benefices, any third benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if a parish church, etc., or a dignity, etc., and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, provided that not more than two of such three incompatible benefices be parish churches or perpetual vicarages. 14 Kal. Dec. (18 Nov.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 38r.)	To Thomas Omurchu, Henry Bared, and Matthew Dundonayll, canons of Killala (Aladen.) Mandate, as below. Paul ii (upon learning that the perpetual vicarage of Oycaiblochacon in the diocese of Killala, of lay patronage, was void by the death of Patrick Offergusa, and had been so long void that its collation had lapsed to the apostolic see, although William Offlaind, priest, of the said diocese, under pretext of a collation by the ordinary after the said lapse, had detained possession of it for between one and two years without any other title) ordered certain judges to summon the said William, and if they found the said vicarage to be void, to collate and assign it to Edmund Omurchu, clerk, of the said diocese, the said pope by his same letters dispensing him (who had been dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest, professed of the order of hermits of St. Augustine, (fn. 4) and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to minor orders and hold a benefice without cure) to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold the said vicarage. His recent petition containing that he obtained the said vicarage, and has held possession for more than a year, without having himself ordained priest, but without taking any fruits after the lapse of the said year, and the said vicarage being by the said non-promotion still void, the pope hereby orders the above three to collate and assign it, value 3 marks sterling, to the said Edmund, provided that the lay patrons expressly consent. 4 Kal. Dec. (28 Nov.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 91v.)	To John Morgan, rector of St. Peter's de Conewale, in the diocese of Lincoln, bachelor in decrees. Dispensation to receive and retain for life with the said church any one other benefice, or without it any two other benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches, etc., or dignities, etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. 1471[–2]. 5 Id. Feb. (9 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 102v.)	To John Lang, perpetual vicar of Lechegere in the diocese of St. Andrews. Dispensation, out of consideration for James, king of Scots, whose treasurer he is, and who has petitioned the pope on his behalf, to receive and retain for life with the said vicarage, value 18l. sterling, any one other benefice, etc., as in the preceding. Prid. Non. Nov. (4 Nov.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 162v.)	To John Waterend, rector of Querle in the diocese of Winchester, bachelor in decrees. Dispensation to receive and retain for life etc., as ibid. Litterarum etc. [2¼ pp.]
5 Kal. Oct. (27 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 165v.)	To Nicholas, bishop of Derry (Deren.). Dispensation to receive and retain in commendam for life with the said church of Derry, value 80 marks sterling, any benefice with cure, even if a deanery, or a non-major or non-principal dignity, etc., value 40 marks sterling, and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. 16 Kal. Oct. (16 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 190v.)	To Thomas Borley, clerk, of the diocese of Norwich. Dispensation to him, who is in his twenty-first year, to receive and retain any benefice with cure, even if a parish church etc., and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. 8 Kal. Sept. (25 Aug.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 192v.)	To Richard Ckadkyrk [sic], rector of Loughton in the diocese of London. Decree, as below. Paul II, on 3 Kal. April anno 7 [30 March, 1471], dispensed him, who was a priest, to receive and retain for life with the said church any one other benefice with cure, etc., as above, f. 91v. The said pope having died before his letters were drawn up, the pope hereby decrees that these presents shall be sufficient proof of the said dispensation. Rationi congruit. [2½ pp.]
7 Kal. Oct. (25 Sept.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 195v.)	To Maurice Oflaferty, rector of the parish churches of the place of Gnobet (recte Gnobec), wont to be ruled by one rector, in the diocese of Annaghdown. Dispensation not to be bound for a year from the date of these presents to be promoted to any holy order, even that of subdeacon, on account of the said rectory, or other benefice with cure or otherwise requiring holy orders, whilst dwelling in the Roman court, or studying letters in a studium particulare after the manner of the Irish; with grant to take meanwhile the fruits etc. of the said rectory or such benefice.
