To John Hedian, archdeacon of the churches of Cashel and Ossory, bachelor in decrees, nuncio of the apostolic see, and collector of the apostolic see and Camera throughout Ireland. Appointing him nuncio and collector in the provinces of Armagh, Dublin, Cashel, and Tuam, and throughout all Ireland, with the usual privileges etc., all other collectors and sub-collectors being hereby revoked, except Prosper Camulius, a papal notary, lately appointed collector there by the pope [see above, p. 207], who, upon his arrival in Ireland, shall himself exercise the office, the said John to do so if the said Prosper do not arrive, or whenever he is absent; with faculty to exercise by deputy the cure of souls and visitation of his dignities and other benefices from the time of his setting out for the apostolic see, (fn. 1) and to receive the procurations etc., and with the usual other faculties and powers for the exercise of the office of collector. He is to send his receipts by letters of exchange etc. (as above, p. 208), and is to take the usual oath of fealty to the pope's chamberlain, etc. Ex fideli. (De Curia.) [4½ pp.]

The next following appointment has again the same incipit, which is the one usual in grants of the papal chaplaincy. ‘Virtutibus clarens’ occurs again as the incipit of an appointment as papal acolyte on f. 98v. of the present Register, but it is immediately followed, on f. 99r., by a grant of the same title, and in this case the incipit is ‘Merentur laudabilia.’
