1449. 5 Id. Dec. (9 Dec.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 10d.)	To the bishop of Bazas (Vasaten.). Mandate, as below. The recent petition of John Riss, perpetual vicar of St. Nicholas's, Galway (Galluia), in the diocese of Annadown, contained that after in virtue of letters of Eugenius IV he had accepted and got provision made to him of the said vicarage, and had obtained possession or was trying to get possession, he gave a sum of money to John, archbishop of Tuam, in order that he should not hinder him by collating it to another, and gave a book called a breviary to Charles Oconchur, priest, of the diocese of Elphin, who is noble and powerful, and by whom he was being kept in prison in favour of a certain adversary of his, in order that he might be released from the said prison, and promised and swore never to demand the said book back again, which however he did and recovered it, and got himself absolved by the said archbishop from his breach of the said oath: and that he is in peaceable possession of the vicarage. of which provision was subsequently made to him in virtue of letters of the present pope, and has held it for about three years. The pope therefore orders the above bishop to absolve John, who is a priest, from all sentences etc. incurred by the foregoing, enjoining penance, dispense him on account of irregularity contracted, if any, by celebrating etc., dispense him to receive and retain the vicarage, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, and any other compatible benefices with and without cure, even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc., and rehabilitate him. 5 Id. May. (11 May.) Palombara (fn. 2). (f. 41.)	To John de Lewyngston', priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, bachelor of canon law. Dispensation, at the petition of James, king of Scots and of John himself (all of whose benefices and their values the pope holds to be expressed by these presents) to hold for life any two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if they be dignities etc. or one of each, or one of such and a parish church or a perpetual vicarage etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases; provided that he do not hold two parish churches or perpetual vicarages, nor one of each; notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance [see above, p. 5], etc. Litterarum sciencia, vite etc. (A. and G. 4 Kal. April. (29 March.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 53d.)	To John Wyne, rector of Quarley in the diocese of Winchester, I.U.B. Dispensation to him (all of whose benefices and their values the pope holds to be expressed by these presents) to hold for life any benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if another parish church or a perpetual vicarage, or a dignity etc., and the said church, value not exceeding 12l. sterling, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two other incompatible benefices, even if two dignities major in metropolitan or other cathedral, or principal in collegiate churches, or two parish churches or perpetual vicarages, or one of each; notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance [see above, p. 5] etc. Litterarum etc. (A. and G. de Elten. \| A. xl. de Feletis.) 3 Id. May. (13 May.) Poggio Mirteto (fn. 3). (f. 72.)	To the bishop of Worcester. Mandate to dispense John, lord Typ[t]ot, esquire (armigero), of the diocese of London, and Cecily relict of the late Henry, duke of Warwick, of the diocese of York, who resides for the most part in the above bishop's diocese (they having recently, not in ignorance that they were related in the third and third degrees of kindred, contracted espousals with one another and plighted their troth, with the following or like words ‘I, John, will be to thee a faithful husband, as a husband is bound to his wife,' and Cecily in like manner, but without copulation or other solemnization (fn. 4) ) to contract and solemnize marriage. 13 Kal. Nov. (20 Oct.) Fabriano. (f. 89d.)	To William, bishop of Emly. Reservation to him, seeing that the church of Emly, whither the pope has [recently] translated him from Elphin, is poorer than the latter, of a yearly life pension of 10l. sterling from the latter, to be paid under stated penalties by Cornelius bishop of Elphin and his successors, half at Easter, half at Michaelmas. 12 Kal. Nov. (21 Oct.) Fabriano. (f. 90.)	To the bishops of Limerick and Ossory. Mandate to receive from William, bishop of Emly, whither the pope has recently translated him from Elphin, in order to save him the labour and expense of coming to the Roman court, the usual oath of fealty, and to send it by his letters patent sealed with his seal. Ibid.	To the bishops of Clonfert and Kilmacduagh (Duacen.) The like mandate in regard to Cornelius, bishop of Elphin, whither the pope has recently translated him from Emly. Cum. [½ p.], as in the preceding.
9 Kal. Nov. (24 Oct.) Fabriano. (f. 91.)	To Michael Tregorre, archbishop elect of Dublin. Faculty to him, to whom the pope has recently made provision of the said church, to be consecrated by any catholic bishop, assisted by two or three others. The consecrator is thereafter to receive from him the usual oath of fealty, and send it to the pope by Michael's letters patent sealed by Michael's seal. Cum nos nuper. Mandate to dispense John Micdavid de Burgo and Anabla Micwater de Burgo, of the dioceses of Elphin and Tuam, who formerly committed fornication several times and had offspring, to marry notwithstanding that they are related in the double third degree of affinity and the fourth and third degrees of kindred, and in manifold fourth degrees both of affinity and kindred, on divers sides; imposing penance on them for their incest, and decreeing the said offspring and that to be born of the marriage legitimate. Mandate to dispense Thomas Amys, layman, and Alice, of his diocese, to remain in the marriage which they formerly contracted per verba legitime de presenti in ignorance that they were related in the third and third degrees of kindred on divers sides; decreeing legitimate offspring born, if any, and that to be born of the marriage.
