ROMAN CATHOLICISM.
Walter Clark of Westbury Hundred was presented as a popish recusant in 1676 and 1680 (fn. 1) and was convicted of recusancy. (fn. 2) In 1683 there were said to be no recusants in the hundred. (fn. 3) and no other references to recusancy have been found. (fn. 4)
The church of St. Bernadette of Lourdes was built in West End in 1938. (fn. 5)
